He says that, but the market really isn't that different in Tampa and they figured it out. It's not on the fans to get it right, its on the organization/players. Want the community to give a shit about you, make it to the playoffs more than 2x in 20 years. the franchise itself deserves 90% of the shots they take. The fanbase deserves maybe 5% of the shots they take.
There were a lot of rumors of the Lightning maybe moving someday and being called a failed market back in the early 2000s. Then a funny thing happened and they turned into a winner in 02/03, won a cup in 04, and have had several winning seasons since then. It’s not hard to figure out. You have to have good management and win to get the fan base on board and build it. Atlanta’s front office was a disaster, didn’t win a playoff game, and now they’re in Winnipeg. No one goes to Panther games because your front office has been a shit show of constantly moving parts and lacked stability to build a winning team. If they start winning the fans will come. It won’t be a Montreal but it can be a respectable market.
that funny thing is called Vincent Lecavalier, Martin st-louis and brad richards Lecavalier was not management related but the other two support your point. St-louis was free and they got Richards in the 3rd round.
Bill Davidson buying the team stabilized things. Feaster was an OK GM but he stopped the revolving door that Dudley had. Dudley made good moves no doubt but he was constantly tinkering and had to be stopped from trading Vinny. I’m just saying you need good management and winning in non traditional markets, then you’ll get butts in the seats. Usually a bad front office doesn’t lead to consistently having a good product in any sport.
They just gave up a b+ prospect, a second, and a conditional for a winger that will cost a million less to re-sign minimum, is 5 years older, and isn’t as good. This would be peak Jim Benning if it happens.

No the one in I want to say 02 when he and Torts were at odds until Feaster played peacekeeper and basically told them they were stuck with each other. It was with the Leafs and involved Antropov and I think Kaberle.
Torts seems to have settled down nicely, all the Oder guy’s hate him. All the french guys absolutely hate him.
Not surprising but the athletic did a player survey he was the most polarizing coach by far, showed up on a bunch of players favorite and least favorite coaches list
Has anyone heard anything about if they'll stream on nhl.tv given we only got a bit over half a season? Or is it going to be like a typical playoff where you have to use other means?
So, do you guys think this things going to end up happening? Been trying not to get my hopes up so just have avoided most news updates
