going to be a late pick regardless seems underwhelming that they couldn’t even get the better of those 2
why wouldn't they just call it a third rounder and say it becomes a fourth if they don't make the playoffs. not a huge deal but that condition is barely being reported.
It’s being rumored he was extremely selective with where he would go, so the Blues had little leverage here.
Hot take: Kane isn't really a guy any contenders should target. His offensive capabilities don't outweigh his defensive liabilities by much any more, and the blackhawks would likely have to eat so much of his contract that the resources going back would still be significant.
He’s not even healthy right now. I think the real hot take is that Chicago should extend him for a year and try this all again next season.
Enough insiders have reported Toronto might pursue Meier that I don’t doubt it’s true. I like the boldness if they go that direction, tbh.
Hope so. Really fun to watch lately. Chytil is en fuego. Tarasenko lights the lamp less than 3 mins. into his 1st game. Love it and the way it's trending ...
I’ll be curious to see if the Kraken just kind of stand pat now with Bjorkstrand on IR. They’ve already been taking a slow approach to things, so making a big deadline deal would have been surprising to begin with. Can’t see them making a big splash for any sort of playoff run now with that hit, but
I don’t care but doesn’t a statue of Dustin Brown seem a bit much. Like Liverpool giving Jordan Henderson a statue because he was a great captain and nowhere near the best player
Dude was never a top 50 player, maybe even a top 100 player in the league. Makes no sense. Henderson is a great comp.
I flew in for the ceremony so I’ll add my 2 cents. Heart and soul of the team for 18 years, captain for both cup runs (our only cups). He’s one of those guys that the rest of the league may not recognize, but all Kings fans love the guy. Definitely deserves the jersey retirement. The statue is a bit much, but they’ve got all sorts of statues outside the stadium.. Oscar De La Hoya, Gretzky, Bob Miller, Chick Hearn, Magic, Kareem etc. Will be interesting to see what they do with Quick, Kopi and Drew.
Kopitar always seeemed like the heart and soul of that team. Brown seemed like a whiner that was one of the least respected players in the league for his flopping antics. He was average defensively and at his best was a .75 PPG player.
I’m in Stockholm for work and was waiting in the hotel lobby for a colleague when some guy starts talking on a completely out-loud FaceTime conversation. I eavesdrop, as is fair when you have a phone conversation in public, and the guy was a Capitals scout talking to a Russian Caps prospect (has to have been Ivan Miroshnichenko) via a translator. Anyway, my fascinating insider scoop is that the Caps want him in North America next season.
