This will be his first hire as a retread - progress NHL! Blackhawks are still a long way away. If Bedard turns into what he was suppose to be and Chicago starts competing again , this hire always was probably a bridge guy to the coach you try to win with. So it most likely doesnt matter
That begs the question of what he was supposed to be. Some people called him a generational talent behind only Crosby and McDavid. Others called him a Patrick Kane/Jack Hughes type prospect. A very large difference in expectations. Tough to judge Blashill’s time in Detroit, Holland gave him really bad rosters. He was known to be good with the youth though.
Canada doesn’t count towards US ratings so having three Canadian teams in the second round doesn’t help anything.
Canadian teams losing for the good of the sport the past decade or so. Truly team players. Hockey culture
Last year there were just two Canadian teams in the second round and they played each other (Oilers/Canucks). As such canadian viewership was up 45% in the second round from last year. Overall between US and Canadian viewership, it’s up 5% from last year.
Three teams north of the border reached the second round, and the Oilers are the lone Canadian squad in the final four. Per the NHL, second-round games averaged 2.2 million viewers in Canada, up 45% from last year. When factoring that in, combined U.S. and Canada TV audiences for the playoffs so far are up 5% from last year, averaging 2.8 million viewers per game.
He did a good job of acquring talent, but the refusal to make changes after half a dozen failed playoff runs, it was time to go.
Ghost has played 2 minutes and Morrow hasn’t seen the ice. So we’re playing 4 D against Florida. Yikes.
