It’s no different than two guys not seeing each other and colliding. That’s not called interference. the thought behind the absolute rule on high sticks is an attempt to protect players faces. Where I’d agree the rule is overreaching is when a player has a penalty committed against him which causes his stick to come up and hit an opponent We obviously do but I’m not gonna get upset about a guy not getting a 5k fine.
He was so good at avoiding it with Haula and Wilson, etc in the first 2 rounds. Easily the best he’s played. Then this.
Much easier to avoid it when the game is going your way. Playing from behind from the very beginning of each game is extremely frustrating.
and when you are getting handled also. Makes you very frustrated when you can’t move. easy to keep your cool when things are going well.
It was, these idiots don’t know what’s going on. Too busy watching the replay to watch the refs call the penalty.
Been saying it in every series for a couple years. You can’t try to give Florida their own medicine. They don’t care and it always backfires. You have to frustrate the panthers with defense and shot blocking. Thats when the panthers calm down and start overthinking passes. Getting the panthers riled up only backfires.
Yeah they thought he hit Tkachuks stick to push it back….but to hit through his stick leading to a perfect pass to Aho is a bit of a stretch
Doesn’t matter. If you force an opponent to play the puck back into their own zone it is treated the same as if you shot it in yourself.
At some point, the discussion about Rob Brind’Amour needs to be had. I think folks - likely due to how average most NHL coaches are - mistake the most recognizable system and generally empty results with the best. He can’t be in the best conversation until he actually wins something.
That was a hilarious sequence in the corner. Aho gets crossed checked twice. Crosschecks back once. Gets crosschecked 5 times in the next few seconds. Play on.
How do you solve the problem of a similar style but vs way better players and your star in the playoffs so far is possibly the worst player
Only one I’ve seen Sam Reinhart will not return tonight due to this hit from Sebastian Aho, per the Florida Panthers. (🎥: NHL On TNT)— TSN (@tsnofficial.bsky.social) 2025-05-23T01:36:25.946Z
Can’t tell honestly. Don’t like how he’s going into it blindly. We’ll see if there’s another angle at some point
When Kronwall’ing was a thing the league acknowledged they preferred hitting with your back. Lessens the likelihood of head contact, elbows, spreads out the distribution of the force. Agreed it’d be nice to see another angle. I wouldn’t call it hitting him blindly, he sees him all the way until the point of impact.
Think point total is insanely overrated for defenseman but how did Mikkola only get 3/7.5 as a free agent, insane signing
6 points the season prior where one team traded him and another let him walk. He’s turned into one of the best bang for your buck 2nd pairing D in the league.
Who’s better? 6 points is kinda absurd but just in the world I know about, think Martin Fehervary and Sandin are every bit the player Chychrun is and won’t get half his aav Still would beat us but Fehervary would have made Canes series more competitive
late again to the party (much like the Canes) but I want everyone fired for how they handled the Jarvis concussion. Man was falling down like a baby giraffe after that hit
I don’t have the data but it seems like it’s very rare a spotter steps in and sends someone to concussion protocol.
It’s extremely evident the Rangers are trying to take the Panthers route of building a D core of cheap guys who were looked over by their previous teams. And then they go and let Mikkola go for nothing. Just shows they have no clue how to deploy the strategy.
Panthers also employ a completely different strategy than most teams when it comes to defensive structure. As long as you can skate, you can thrive in it and it covers up a lot of other flaws those defeseman may have. Mikkola has been a perfect fit.
