ruled off and disallowed a goal. This is one of those calls that’s right by the letter but I still hate. He lifts his stick over the top to avoid hitting an opposing player and they rule that he lost possession doing so
Makes total sense to continually play him on PP1. Also makes total sense to keep putting Jack Johnson out there. Makes total sense to have Lemieux on PP2. At least he pulled Georgiev.
Quinn’s personnel decisions continue to numb the mind. Im honestly at a loss for what they do with Kakko at this point. He’s getting about 10 minutes per night, with no PP time (while Howden and Lemieux do...). Not sure why he’s on the big club at this point if he’s going to be used so sparingly. On the other hand, his skating has been atrocious and doesn’t look NHL-level at this point. He glides 80% of the time, and when he isn’t he looks like Jody Shelley trying to take strides in quick sand. The organization needs to figure out a gameplan for him immediately.
How has lafreniere look? He is not lighting it up obviously but is he getting some quality time with good players once in a while?
He’s shown flashes of brilliance here and there, but you can tell he’s still trying to get used to the speed of the game. Got pushed up to the 2nd line after game 1 and moved to RW. On the 2nd PP, which gets little ice term compared to the 1st. Should have a couple assists right now if guys could finish.
NHL Thread: Counting how many times we think to ourselves that the Blackhawks suck A little wordy, but I think it's accurate. 20 goals against in 4 games. WOOF
I think that was the intention. full on tank. Have to wonder how long Kane is willing to stick it out.
Kakko looked good in the first tonight, but he isn’t getting enough ice time. It’s almost like Quinn forgets to put him out there, Gaunthier as well. Quinn is obviously a below average coach when it comes to game planning and tactics. He won’t be here past this season, which makes me question why isn’t he already gone? The only positive that comes from the loss, is that DeAngelo gets to play again and hopefully Shesty gets has his confidence back.
He looks good, but of course Quinn has him playing where he doesn’t fell comfortable bc he gave Kakko one period with the 2nd line. He should be on PP1 instead of Strome to add another lefty shot, but Quinn won’t figure that out for another 10-15 games
Strome being on the 1st PP - in a position where he can’t shoot the puck - all while being a turnover machine is so frustrating to watch.
I don’t even care if it’s not Laf, but it needs to be a lefty. Play Buchnevich, or Kakko, or Chytil. It doesn’t matter
Their offense? Players congregated in hotel rooms together. So they can congregate on the ice, in the locker room, but not hotel rooms?
Flyers getting hit by injuries early this season. Couturier already out, now Myers and Frost both out for a while.
Also Panarin is an incredibly likable dude. Raised by his grandparents because his parents both bailed and was so poor growing up he played in figure skates that were so big he had to wear shoes inside them for them to fit. That’s one of the main reasons it took him so long to get noticed. He was like 15 before he ever got equipment that actually fit.
is there a good reason I'm not seeing why these guys should be able to play a game and share a bench together but not a hotel room?
Im sure there is some reasonable logic that sounds good in theory at least, even if it's dumb in practice. However, this is a valid point
Tortorella is a good coach but he always finds a way to make players hate him, especially the good ones
If PLD wants to play the spoiled brat part the organization can say earn your ice...which they seem to be doing. This isn’t a good situation for either side but I’d love for the organization to say to him shut up and be a good team mate. You have a contract so live up to it.
