Leafs somehow losing this game and then missing the playoffs by a point would be the best story in NHL history.
Mrazek went way out, it’s on him. Goalies have a certain level of protection when they are playing goalie but if you want to go out there and play defense you are fair game.
The rule states unnecessary contact, Mrazek skated right into that contact as Clifford was going for the puck. That's on him. Clifford didn't intend to *hit* Mrazek, he ran into him while he was going for the puck. Zero intent, that shouldn't have been called.
If Mrazek comes back and the final is 4-3 or 5-3 or whatever, this dude is the winning goalie isn't he?
Imagine if the Caps faced an emergency backup? Would Ovie ever leave the ice, let alone pass the puck?
he was just trying to retrieve the puck, the goalie was out of his place. What is next? Dress ovechkin as a goalie and nobody can hit him if he wants to skate up the ice?

I was being stupid but I really like the physical play, I don’t like goalies that whine about being interfered with...you make your fucking place and stop the puck. Hockey is not a non contact sport, fighting for your position is something a goalie should be able to do. and if you go out like mrazek did you can’t expect everybody to just pull back and let him do whatever he wants. It was a race for the puck, 5 min is ridiculous
should a punter not be allowed to be blocked? Goalies in their crease are off limits. If you want to leave that safe area, that’s on you.
It got knocked down to 2 which was the right call. One of my concussions is from getting run behind the net after trying to stop a puck behind the net and it getting caught in my feet. I was a sitting duck and got blown up. Too hard to move to be fair game
A punter isn’t wearing 30+ pounds of bulky equipment that gives you the mobility of a city bus. It’s always funny how little you know about hockey.
That is unfortunate but what do you expect the other guy to do when he sees you like this? His job is to get the puck back for his team. Don’t get out if you are scared of being hit.
You poke the puck with your stick and put it in the net. You don’t ever need to hit a goalie. The smarter play is to always take the puck away and put it in front of the net while the goalie is out. The only point to it is to inflict pain on someone who doesn’t have the ability to avoid it.
Watch old videos, you didn’t see goalies skating all over the zone to get a puck. There’s a reason for that
We are different goalies because if someone runs me one time I can guarantee you I will find many many ways to make that dude never try it again. Sometimes you got to rewatch the billy smith highlights to remember what really keeps these forwards away from the front of the net.
