exactly. But I'm not still hoping that Manny Diaz can be transformed into future hope. He's a sunk cost. Just like Eichel.
Not to go completely off the rails ITT, but he has an extremely veteran laden team and has laid 3 eggs to start the season. He either turns it around and wins the coastal at minimum or needs to be fired. But back on track. Spilled milk is spilled milk. Sabres gambled and lost last year and are now doubling down on a bad position. The odds this works out in their favor are incredibly small.
Once Eichel is traded how long does it take for him to get the procedure that the Sabres wanted in the first place? Fifteen seconds?
Seriously though, I get your point. The issue is once he was hurt and wanted a "newer" surgery that the team doctors (and/or insurance company) do not support, there was not a good path forward for the Sabres. You mentioned decent offers but the beat writers I followed disagreed and said the Rangers in particular were offering crap. So in my opinion, you hold on longer based on the fact that something better may happen or you end up with half or a quarter of crap.
Probably because the team that trades for him either has doctors that think it's fine, or doesn't yet have an insurance policy on the contract and can get one tailored around this surgery and his pre-existing condition.
So we know that other teams are fine with him getting that surgery? I honestly haven't seen any links about that.
Ah, sorry, I misread that. I do wonder if other teams would let him have the surgery that HE wants though. And if he is correct about Jack getting the fusion surgery, and no reason to not think so, then isn't Jack just being an asshole?
right, but this holding without Eichel actually having surgery doesn't solve anything. It just leaves the Sabres in Limbo paying 10 million AAV for a player on LTIR for another season. The only way to resolve the current stalemate is for either trade eichel for the best return they can get today, or let him have his requested surgery and hope it works.
Well, or hope he changes his mind and gets the surgery they want and then rehabs to get traded for 80% of what he was worth before the injury. That's not a bad result. Better than a 20% return.
Correct. Then player can supplement if they dont think policy limits (think these are hammered out thru collective bargaining) are sufficient.
Probably the best place to trip for hockey would be Vegas. Stay at NYNY or Park MGM and be super short walking distance to the games.
So you are saying that Jack's whole contract is covered by a league wide insurance policy and the team is not liable at all for the $50 million left if he gets this surgery and then is never able to play again?
So the question is whether this surgery is 80% covered by the league insurance policy, regardless of which player were to get it. Interesting.
the contract is 80% covered by the insurance policy. I don't think anyone has ever confirmed about how the policy is affected by the surgery.
I am an idiot, but this means that if I already have ESPN+ I wont need to pay anything more for all of the out of market games?
OK, so the Sabres are on the hook for 20% of $50 million if the surgery leaves him unable to play. The Sabres (and the rest of the teams in the league) are on the hook for the other 80% if the surgery is not covered by the policy. $10 million is still a lot to eat if he can't play anymore, plus the lack of any trade return. But if they would have to eat the whole thing, and so would any other team, I'm not sure why people think he could be traded unless he agreed to the other, fusion surgery with that team ahead of time. Maybe his agent is telling teams that? He did just switch agents.
Nice! My buddy is a Devils fan and gets the package every year. Just told him last night I would split it with him to watch the Sabres. What's the definition of insanity again?
Blues and blackhawks require either vax or negative test. Havent paid attention to others. I assume all the canadian teams allow vax only
I think im some (most?) cases it's a city ordinance and not a team thing. I know the blues arent requiring masks as an organization, but are enforcing the city rules of masks indoors. Pretty much a difference without distinction.
Kings are requiring proof of vaccination or recent covid test, plus masks in seats. Not a big surprise till Los Angeles lifts its indoor mask mandate.
Pinto and Norris are both higher on the depth chart than Brown so he was never going to get a chance to play top two C minutes. Hopefully he can figure out how to be a pro in St. Louis.
This was purely a cap dump for the blues. If Brown turns into anything, that's just bonus. Hopefully he does because it would be pretty cool to have a StL boy playing for the blues. At least until Brady comes home
Hope he get's a long as fuck suspension from his league and an even longer one from international play.
