I believe this is the second time Tkachuk got Kassian. Kassian got four and a misconduct.

Kassian just responded for being ran, fuck he pummeled the kid like he should, tkatchuk turtled after running a guy that can fight. What the hell are you guys talking about?

just because he is an old bad player doesn’t mean he should just lay down. Tkachuk will get absolutely killed if he continues like this

they are absolute cheap shots, if you can’t see that tkachuk was looking for it I don’t know what to tell you. If you hit a guy like kassian like this there is no doubt it’s coming

Tkatchuk will be fucked up 5 years from now and some of you will wonder why. He will get so many cheap shit that nobody will even see, this is not something he should do.

he might get away with it because of his dad but I doubt it very much.

Maybe I missed a quote but Tkachuk seems to be ok with that considering it benefits his team in the form of powerplays.

If I’m an Edmonton fan, I’d be pissed. Kassian is out there playing with his head down and unaware of his surroundings, so Tkachuk bombs him bc he can. Kassian turns around and takes a penalty.

Kassian has to stand up for himself, but maybe next time keep your head up, just bc you are a big goon doesn’t mean dudes aren’t gonna hit you.

Tkachuk has fought McNabb and Kessler. It’s not like he doesn’t fight or he doesn’t fight fighters.

He’s just not going to fight Kassian because two times in the last 2 seasons he’s gotten him to go full caveman in important games that led to them winning. He knows he can’t control himself.

Kassian is to blame as well. Gotta be smart and if you are getting hit because you’re always on your phone well that’s on you too. But if you’re an Oiler you gotta stick up for your team mate and start targeting some of their players.

They were predatory hits. Clean, but predatory. They are the types of hits that are intended to hurt your opponent, not separate them from the puck. If we are going to claim to be worried about player safety, it’s the type of hit we don’t need anymore.

Tkachuk plays over the line but he seems content with the repercussions, so whatever. I agree those hits are predatory, but DPoS is a joke now more than ever, so I am not sure what to say.

Those are clean hits in a physical game. The hits while meeting their intended purpose also send a mental and emotional message to your team, the opponent, and the crowd. They should never go away, just like fighting.

I have no problem with any of the hits or Kassian going after Tkachuk. It’s part of the game

Good, clean, hard hits are good

Fighting a guy who doesn't want to fight is bad

You aren’t wrong that they send a message. But that message comes with long term repercussions. If we are going to pretend to care about player health, we don’t need the monster hits like last night where Tkachuk takes 2+ strides and makes impact at full speed. They are awesome to watch and make for great highlights, but it’s how guys end up with CTE. It’s the same as being in a car crash. I’m not saying all big hits need to go, but the hits that fall under the definition of charging need to start getting called as such.

You can’t mandate out hard hits or even the intent to hurt someone in a clean manner. Being bigger and stronger than another player should not be a disadvantage. Don’t like getting barrelled over? Stay out of the tracks. But this is still hockey and if you keep getting challenged you need to answer the bell. Still plenty of guys in the league who understand you stand up for your actions.

Predatory hits are fine as long as you aren’t hitting the guy in the head. The idea you have to fight because some shit plug 4th liner can’t play with his head up is asinine.

A challenge? No. But consistently turning it down sends a message that you aren’t willing to back up your shit. Guys around the league won’t respect you; guys in your room too won’t like it. Players don’t want to be that guy.

That’s because he got very good at hockey and is probably a glue guy. Reminds me of Claude lemieux but better, some guys get away with it but there will be plenty of stories about how some teammates hated marchand when it’s all said and done.

Exactly this, the game is going away from this neanderthalic "the code" "old time hockey" mentality. Not everyone can accept change. That fact that some meatheads think that it is a necessity to fight after a clean hit is so dumb, play the game, you are a dinosaur and you will be extinct soon.

They’ve been trying to get Marchand for years to play the right way. The organization has gone to great lengths to get his head on straight. Being liked away from the rink and guys being fed up with your on ice antics are two different things. Of course it helps to have a good core of vets like Chara and Bergeron.

i can see both sides, I would be with you guys since I am just a pussy goalie and hate all the ridiculous bullying shit that happens.

but it’s not just a hockey thing, it’s a human thing. A guy takes a run at you and not a lot of us would just say « yep, nice work buddy » these guys are pro athletes, they will retaliate and send a message that it’s not ok.
