Terribly shortsighted move, but if it leads to Yzerman hiring old line mate, I’m ok with the decision.
The NHL is weird man. Two coaches fired Midseason are then hired to new jobs like a month later, all Midseason. Does that happen anywhere else, ever? Like the NFL is an outlier but I don’t think it’s happened much, if ever, in baseball or basketball.
Don’t know about racer’s comment about hearing things but that looks out of left field. Would not be surprised something happened
DeBoer already being lined up doesn’t jive with that theory. If it was something that just came to light, I suspect Gallant is fired and Vegas makes a show of doing an investigation.
It’s totally possible it’s just coaching style and bad decisions. The treatment stuff was just floating around this morning. Everyone seems surprised. My theory is a ducks-in-a-row thing. Whatever it was has been building and they had their pieces ready before making the move.
I cant find the tweet now, but I saw one that said there are now 14 coaches with a shorter tenure than Berube. He's been in his job just over a year. That's nuts.

Does Gallant just rub management the wrong way? Seems like quick trigger fingers in Sunrise and Vegas after having success at both places. Unless the team was playing like Detroit has been this year, he should’ve had a ton of job security for what he’s done with an expansion team.
I know for a fact that at least 75% of the reason he was fired in Florida is because he clashed with the owners. Yes, the Panthers have a meddling ownership group, but at the time, they were trying to go head first into analytics and Gallant fought them every step of the way. Computer guys would recommend a certain lineup, he'd put out the exact opposite just to spite them. Fell in love with big bodied grinder types and would play them over much more skilled players. Logan Shaw was a good example. Guy was absolute garbage but was a Gallant favorite to the point the team traded Shaw away for peanuts just so Gallant couldn't put him in the lineup anymore. Shockingly enough, Shaw hasn't stuck anywhere since.
The fan melty is great. This move came like 2 days after a 20% ticket price hike that had everyone all worked up already.
The local news devoted the first like 5 minutes of coverage to it earlier. So many fans were upset/surprised by it. The price hike to me is just hilarious though. I already thought the ticket prices were insane after being so used to STL prices, that an increase is just making them even more absurd.
Don’t care about Kreider running goalies if he returns something crazy for us at the deadline. Then I’ll call him out for all his shenanigans.
