Giving this type of deal for a 33 year old (turns 33 in April) doesn't make sense at that cap hit and the term should be no more than 3 years.

Yeah the East WC race is almost over, Buffalo & Carolina are the only ones who still have a shot. The West WC race is still wide open with all the teams still in it.

Ferland would be a really good fit on a line with Pettersson and Boeser. That's the type of player the Canucks need. He's not going to be cheap by trade or UFA though and will be 27 in April. Ferland could get Tom Wilson money and 5 or 6 years term in July.
