DiPietro is already getting crushed 2-0. The defense is not doing him any favors as he had no shot on either goal.
Oooooo horvat on the boeser and Pettersson line and instant goal Should probably be the line going forward this year, given that Pettersson is getting walloped on the dot. We’re basically a one line team right now anyways, so may as well load it up.
I know, but you have to have a few other options in your farm teams. I would not call up a guy from junior for something like that, you are feeding him to the wolves. Put a 30 years old playing in the east coast and hope for the best. You don’t want to hurt a kid like that. I see no upside playing him tonight
Bachman is out for the year with injury. AHL team is currently rolling with this hot mess: The situation is even worse in Utica, where the Comets are now relying on ECHL goalie Ivan Kulbakov to stop the puck. Kulbakov currently ranks 46th out of 50 AHL goalies in goals against average (3.48) and 36th in save percentage (.895). Recently, 37-year-old veteran Michael Leighton was brought in to help out.
Pretty much. In theory, Markstrom, Demko, and DiPietro is a pretty good spot to be in with goalies, but yet we’re currently fucked.
It's going to be a one line for awhile. This team has a lot of holes and some people say the rebuild has been expedited.
It’s great business to assemble bottom lines when you have 1 F line and one half of a D line (depending on which one of the two is healthy on any given day).
Should have some money to play with even after signing Boeser and Leivo after this year at least. Getting edler, Del zotto, Dorsett, off the books after this year should be nice and then Tanev, Schaller, and Gagner the next year.
Fairly skeptical that they let their two best D walk. Juolevi is coming along slowwwly. Even if Hughes is a Pettersson level revelation, there’s next to zero D to join him. Edler and Tanev aren’t the issue anyways. Throwing out wtf deals to Eriksson, Beagle, and Roussel are.
I mean edler is about to be 33, missed like 20 games per year on average over the last 5, was making 5 million AAV, and hasn't been the most productive player or great possession player for a while, no? What kind of contract do you offer a guy like that, that he wouldn't test the market?
I’m fairly certain he’ll retire as a Canuck. And I’d be fine with that. In his prime he was arguably the most underrated D out there. I don’t imagine many teams are chomping at the bit to offer him much of anything in his current state.
Well then I guess whether he's off the books or back on the team at a nice discount, that's probably a good thing either way, right?
They're talking extension with Edler. Del Zotto already has been traded and Dorsett is on LTIR. I'd rather the Canucks trade Tanev at the draft, just don't think he doesn't have that much value anymore though. Schaller and Gagner have been horrible signings. Sutter, Gudbranson, and Pouliot need to get traded because they're terrible. I prefer the Canucks not to sign anyone in UFA because they give out bad contracts and they'll be in a cap crunch in 2 years when the have to resign Pettersson. Need to be sellers at the trade deadline and hopefully get some more draft picks hopefully some 1st Rd and lower picks to continue to build through the draft.
stat tracking in general in the NHL is so bad. giveaways and takeaways are worthless because of how inaccurate the numbers are.
dirty little secret of fantasy hockey. If you are in a league that counts hits, draft some islanders.
What a bunch of fucking morons after they threw DiPietro to the wolves! Sutter must be hurt again. Edit:
Will be interested to see if this has any effect on him going forward. He's had quite a number of questionable extracurriculars over his career, but was almost never suspended because most were kinda borderline. They say history only effects the length, not the possibility of being suspended, but I think human psychology makes it difficult to fully compartmentalize that. Could see him getting less of the benefit of the doubt in the future.
the thing that drives me crazy about the NHL is how different that suspension would be if he connected.
Agreed. I don't have an issue with injury playing a role in the length, but the way it often goes from the hammer coming down to a slap on the wrist because a guy didn't connect is pretty backwards imo
Lowballing Trotz to keep Reirden is looking fucking stupid right now but we also have an owner who has employed Ernie Grunfeld for nearly 20 years
