feels like a play you could easily interpret either way and that’s a problem for me. it should be clear what the rule is. to me he has possession whether it’s on his stick or not.
It’s a terrible call, they would blow the whistle on that one if it was a delayed penalty. Just a ridiculous call
If they’re considering possession to be puck-on-stick, it throws so many other rules for a loop. Absolutely terrible ruling.
By that ruling why can’t you chip a puck in, and chase it down, as long as your teammate is out of the zone before you touch it.
Right but the ruling is as long you move the puck in the zone, you can also enter the zone and be onside as long as you’re not touching/ possessing the puck as you enter, and don’t touch it until your teammate tags up. I feel stupid because I cant comprehend how that is different than chipping it and entering the zone before your teammate tags up, which is always called offside. Edit - i get It now. Makar’s skates were still outside the zone before the tag up. Still not calling that possession feels really wrong
That dude is such a clown. NHL hung him out to dry and he still carries their water at EVERY opportunity.
