Going to load up on picks and then have a promising rebuild to sell to whatever city the next owner eventually moves them to
Even after signing him and Bernier, when they sign their UFA’s they’ll barely hit the cap floor I think
This is such a banana land stance to take. Especially considering the team had $20M in cap space and seemingly no gameplan to get involved in free agency in a major way. What the hell is Drury doing?
I wish Detroit was this egregious with its tank job, but all we did is ride out Holland’s shitty moves. I’m in awe of Arizona and Buffalo.
I believe there is a market inefficiency that can be exploited when it comes to goalies, but like I said yesterday, as long as every other team goes nuts trying to find their own stability in net, it’s a lot harder to figure out.
I don’t hate the idea that the avalanche let grubauer go but they played themselves by allowing all the other goalie movements to happen first. They should have set a deadline for the talks with grubauer. With kuemper I feel like they now need to find an improved backup and won’t have that 1st round pick to make a deadline acquisition that could be needed to put them over the top.
I dont disagree with you on this, however I think Pavel Francouz is a really solid goalie if he stays healthy. For the next 2 years I think they will be in a good spot as their defensive play makes it easier on goalies. They need to spend any/all resources to find a long term solution over the next year plus.
Id rather use the cap hit to gain an asset during a rebuild. Maybe I’m not sentimental enough given how much he’s meant to that franchise. I’m just a fan of the power rebuild when my roster is as bad as Anaheim’s and I don’t feel like they’ve been doing that.
if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em probably with bellemare although I could see Perry on a 3rd line with some younger players. Lightning likely trading a younger forward for picks to try and rebuild the gutted prospect pool. Could be someone like Mitchell stephens.
Likely at this point that one guy gets moved. 100% not Foote. Could be any of those forwards or guys under contract like Joseph or stephens. Will depend on the return. Foote is untouchable because of our severe lack of defensive depth in the minors but we have plenty of forwards still. My guess is Mitchell stephens gets moved but a lot likely depends on if someone loves one of the other guys and overpays.
For us to get another guy at even $1 million means someone has to go. I like the mix of young and veterans. I hated Corey Perry because he’s a piece of shit but you need assholes in the playoffs and I’ve been impressed with his play against us in the SCF both years.
if the trade is right, brisebois is down. I don’t see him getting traded but he will trade almost anyone if the deal is too good to pass up.
Saad and Buchnevich is a decent upgrade over Schwartz and Hoffman. Still need to see how Tarasenko plays out but so far, a decent off season for the good guys.
Corey Perry saw the Lightning beat him two straight years in the SCF and decided fuck it lets join them
pretty much just speaking to Eichel's agent. Saw some reports today that eichel is obviously displeased with how long this is taking and that he wants to know who he is playing for sooner than later.
