well shit. I know this is the wrong way to officially do things but I was hoping they would think to themselves that the penalty may have cost the panthers Game 1 and then not add insult to injury with the suspension.

there's not. The wording they used to suspend Bennett word for word applies to the hit by McDonagh. Never mind that Sergachev had a similarly dangerous hit on Bennett. The Panthers had players getting pushed face first into the boards all night and the only discipline out of the game is Bennett. It's laughably bad.
The Hurricanes/Preds game doesn’t even feel like it is in the same stratosphere of any of the series that have started.
Basically this. It feels like a regular season game so far, but in fairness, these are two teams that normally play twice a year, so there isn’t much built in animosity.
