Ken Holland is going to get 5 back to back stanley cup champions including the HOF lock captain and 4 1st round picks and NHL Twitter will riot for weeks.
he would be so quick to say that this was a genius move…if the florida panthers did it. That was a master class for sure
yeah this is the part people aren’t realizing. The Carey price is really hurt shit was reported by the media based on anonymous sources. Do we all know bergevin/Habs leaked it? Yes. Can you prove it? No. He played it well for what he wanted even though I still think price being chosen is what’s best for Montreal.
with the drafting philosophy they showed, I don't think the Kraken were taking Carey Price even if he was 100% healthy.
I disagree. Edmonton isn’t bad because of Mcdavids high cap hit. They just keep signing awful players and making awful trades. Also poor drafting. Even if you gave edmonton $10 million more cap than every other team, Holland would use it on bad signings. About to overpay for Hyman and they will likely make an awful move for a RHD to replace larsson.
My point is if you’re trading for McDavid now because you have cap space, you probably don’t have a lot of talent to surround him. So if I am Detroit and in two years I can get McDavid but it costs me Seider, Raymond, whoever we took this year and several firsts, who would be left to round out the roster? I am sure there would be some talent, and maybe some money to find other players, but you’re still back behind the eight ball.
The regular season SV% and GAA the last 4 years are not good. He has stepped his game up in the playoffs each of the last 2 years but you can’t pay $10.5 million for 5 years to a guy who has been below average for a majority of the last 4 years and will be 34 when the season starts even if he was healthy. Francis did a lot of dumb shit on draft night though and I have a feeling he’s going to make some dumb FA signings so we will see.
you're thinking about it from Detroit’s POV. In that case you’d have cap to sign guys because who would you be paying? If mcdavid goes to a team with current talent though, they will lose some of that talent but potentially have cap room as well. A lot will depend on what mcdavid goes for but if the team focuses on future 1st round picks in the trade, they shouldn’t be picking top 10 with mcdavid on the team. The quality of prospects will depend on the quality of NHL players and number of future 1sts. Borderline all star, good player, 2 prospects and 5 1st round picks might be the type of trade to get mcdavid.
Has there been any information released on what the streaming package will be this year? Me and a buddy split the NHL package last year and it was awesome to have. Will they be doing that again or will everything be migrated to ESPN+?
Today is going to be such a confusing day for you. Draft #1 yay!!! Trade Eichel for a mediocre return to the Rangers: sadness Trade Ristolainen to the Oilers for way more than he is worth: YAY!!!!
More sad about Reinhart leaving than Eichel. I would rather trade Eichel to Minny than NYR, but you take the best deal.
not gonna lie, was kind of hoping zeberdee would have liked this post. Sorry Zeb, your GM is on crack. Congrats bro, your GM just turned chicken shit into delicious fried chicken.
There are a lot of hockey people that talk about him like an above average player. It shocks me how much some hockey people will look at size and potential and just skip the fact that a guy isn’t good at hockey.
