I love lurking on HF to see hot takes, but I actually saw something that blew my mind. The Wings took Jean-Ralphio
Source is probably Marc bergevin for this one. A single source confirming MULTIPLE teams would have taken a player is already suspicious.
I feel like Wysh wouldnt have let them off the hook that easily and gone w a source that was w the Habs
I forgot yesterday also that he is signed for this season so the 8 year deal doesn’t kick in until after this season is over. Such a bad contract. Had to know it would be buyout proof. Almost all of the big contracts are these days. Only saving grace for Chicago is that they likely won’t have Kane and toews and the cap will go up by the time this contract gets really bad.
Only 6 years. Great deal for him. Only the maple leafs have been dumb enough to pay absolute top dollar and not demand full 8 years. Those Matthews and marner contracts were so bad. Marner makes $2 million/yr more than makar for the same contract length. That deal still amazes me. No one has been able to use that deal to get anything resembling it either. Teams just refuse to contemplate that as a comp for anyone. even Edmonton got 8 out of Mcdavid.
I'm not sure 9 m aav is absolute top dollar considering what Seth Jones just got. I'd take Makar over Seth
Exactly so I dont get the comment that they paid absolute top dollar when his contract is less than Seth Jones
Comping to Jones isn’t fair because not only did Chicago greatly overpay for the player that Jones has been the past two years but that’s an absolute awful contract.
Lol Seattle’s pick was so off the board, not a single guy in the studio could say anything about a high second rounder. Studio has yet to pull up a profile for him. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/351173/ryker-evans
I was saying the leafs paid top dollar for marner without getting 8 years. I think this is less than top dollar and makar benefits by getting to UFA sooner. Leafs gave marner the path to UFA early and for that earlier path, marner didn’t give up a dollar and if anything, still managed to get overpaid.
does either team benefit from this? Voracek makes like 2.5 million more but is signed for 1 year less so I guess it makes sense for a flyers team going all in and a columbus team that knows they won’t be good in the next 3 years anyway. I wonder if voracek gets traded in the next year or so with a big chunk of salary retained to a contender.
of course they did. Bergevin definitely has a type. We really shouldn’t have been surprised that they took that guy yesterday at 31.
So Cam who was like the one BJ player to actually embrace Columbus and wanted to be here gets traded so the BJ's get more cap relief in 2 years? Cam was at Nationwide last night with season ticket holders for the draft watch- woof
yeah I just don’t see taking on an extra 2.4 million for 3 years just to clear 5.9 in 4 years makes a lot of sense. Having guys who want to be there and can be leaders is important in a rebuild.
Yes. It’s just not official yet. Believed that the panthers are trying to dump some salary in the deal as well
This is so fucking dumb. Even if it’s for a 6th or 7th round pick. Why would you care if Edmonton has like $200k in cap savings? They’re in the other conference. And Toronto wonders why they suck even though they have multiple elite players.
