And gave us an extra 1.8 million in cap space on top of Johnson’s contract for each of the next 3 seasons. For only a 2nd round pick. Great grade for us.
but that’s not how it works. Say Tampa had 70 mil in salary with 5 of it being Johnson (so 65 non Johnson money). They trade him for seabrook and now have 71.875 in cap money (65 non seabrook money). When seabrook goes on LTIR it’s still 65
I'm straight up not having a good time Lemme get my deposit back on the season ticket waitlist @Blackhawks
There's maybe 2 or 3 teams in the league that don't have a bottom 10 roster that could afford him, and they either don't want him or want a bigger fish. The Devils at least could become a contender before he's completely washed.
He presumably wants 9+ AAV. We were likely trying to offer 7.5-8 and probably less years. This is the biggest contract of his life so I can’t fault him for cashing in but it sucks we won’t make the commitment in what is likely a very limited cup window.
Bernier to NJ looks like it's happening, so Carolina really just got a 3rd for Nedeljkovic and still has no goalies signed
I'm going to be upset if the Flyers sign Martin Jones. at least Hart's spot will be as secure as ever.
A lot of good trade backs in the draft but I really don’t see what the plan is for the current team. The nedeljkovic trade just can’t make sense to me. He had one weak goal but he was as good as any goalie we faced in the playoffs. Hurricanes only 2 goals in 3 starts he made against the lightning. Not his fault.
Player has to want to leave or be willing to leave but I just don’t understand why we don’t see more offer sheets. Too many scared/dumb GMs in this league. An offer sheet doesn’t have to be for a major contract and a guy that requires 4 1st round picks. The compensation for RFAs is basically what some of these teams pay for rentals at the deadline.
Detroit should offer sheet Pettersson. We have tons of room, we have drafted a million players the last few years, and we have enough guys with skill to fil out the roster over the next few years.
Adams has done pretty well this summer, but I believe he’s drastically overplayed his hand with this Eichel trade. Vegas is going to end up getting Jack for a song.
Pettersson is absolutely the perfect candidate for an offer sheet. If nobody tries to make that move, they might as well get rid of the capability.
