I mean, there’s constant highlights of Hughes getting abused. There’s not too many Jeff Petry secondary assist highlights.
Not really. He’s been incredible this year and has steadily improved the last 3 years. He’s a legit 1D.
if you’re drafting in the top 5 you need to take best player available. Only rare exception to that is if you have a goalkeeper as your BPA and you have a good young goalie. You can sign free agents and make trades. Top 5 picks become the cornerstones of Stanley cup champions. when was the last time a team won a Stanley cup where the captain/top scorer/best player wasn’t a top 5 pick by that team? 2010-11 bruins? You have to get great players from those picks. Can’t worry about fit and position.
NHL teams look at prospects in blocks and tiers. If you have two kids who you project as being equal going forward organizations will take the one that will be the best fit for their team. In Sens case if they have Power and Clarke rated as equal they should take the right D over the left D. Sens had both Sanderson and Drysdale rated evenly. They took the player they felt best fit their needs.
Also eichel is pretty blatantly quitting early on his shifts. He is first to coast to the bench every time.
Lol, so? You have two goals all year, get a wide open breakaway, and you can’t find the extra gear to out skate a defenseman in a 0-0 game? And then you trip and fall?
He wants to be in a wining organisation but does not do what a winning organisation would expect of him. He needs to take the leadership role instead of just waiting for it to happen
Gotcha. Making sure I wasn’t crazy that an elite player like Hall can’t find his legs to finish a breakaway no matter how long the shift.
it’s one thing that people never realize though, guys get absolutely dog tired on the ice. They are leaving a ton out there. But there is no way he tripped just because he was tired. And I would love to see the rest of his shift. he just blew a tire, it happens.
You could pick out instances of Crosby and McDavid coasting a bunch of times too if you wanted to create a narrative.
Pld never played like this before he wanted out. Eichel has been like this even in college. but i would not give up on him, the problem with rebuilding and tanking is that new stars do not get the proper mentoring. It seems so stupid and so cliche but young players need some older guys to keep them straight.
You can cherry pick any star player coasting! Can you cherry pick Eichel having 2 goals? He has not scored since January 28. 12 games now without a goal.
Streaks happen. It’s nothing new. There are a dozen issues that are preventing the Sabres from being competitive before you get to Eichel. Should Eichel have been given the C? Probably not, but you can’t be so reactionary in a long term rebuild.
trading away Eichel is the worst thing that the sabres can do. Unless he is a complete mess you do not trade a guy like him away.
I’m glad you woke up today and wanted to start a meaningless argument with someone, but you’ll have to find someone else.
