Not really easy to show a cracked shaft but I get your point. Still think it was ridiculous to make that call in that spot.
I haven’t seen the video but if a player knows his stick is broken and it’s still intact he should skate to the furthest ref and show them, every ref in the world knows when a stick is broken when seen up close and/or felt. That takes away the chance that they think you broke it intentionally. Or just leave it on the ice and go get a new one. Linesman has to pick it up before play can resume and they can determine it’s broken if it is.
Whistle had blown for the icing. While skating back into the zone he flexed the stick on the ice and it snapped. It wasn't even a long shift or an important juncture in the game. Just a completely unnecessary time to make that kind of call.
What’s shitty is sometimes you’re just testing your stick to see if it’s broke because you’re not sure. Then it breaks. That shouldn’t be a penalty. Refs need to learn better discretion. Like pucks over the glass. Shouldn’t be an automatic penalty. Refs should be able to tell whether it was intentional or not.
And that’s exactly what happened here. He was testing his stick knew it was broken and finished it off. It was dumb as shit to call that a delay of game.
Seems like just limiting the amount of times a team win the lottery would solve a lot of issues but what do I know?
only change I would make is that instead of saying a team can jump a max of 10 spots in a single year, make it a max of X sports in a 5 year span. Ex, a team can win twice, but can't jump from 10 to 1 and 8 to 2 with both of their wins. At some point you get capped out.
Sens drafted third last year with the SJ 1st rounder. Would that be considered a lottery spot for Ottawa or SJ? Hope they don’t move the draft back either.
My buddies played with him growing up. Was just told he actually was an Isles fan oops. But yea he has made a nice little career of it.
What is NBC's current deal with NHL? Seems like this was coming after NBC announced it was getting rid of NBCSN in favor of putting stuff on USA or w/e
Their current deal is that they have exclusivity. Bettman finally wised the fuck up and realized splitting the package was way more lucrative.
David Quinn might be out by the end of this road trip. His defenders will claim Panarin and Igor are out and he can’t be held accountable, but that has nothing to do with the effort for 2 periods today and the lack of offense vs competent defensive teams. Igor will be back sometime this week, but you have to assume Panarin won’t be back this year so I doubt the excuse will still work.
They massively overachieved last year. a regression even with adding Lafreniere should have been expected.
