I don’t know what kind of cave you’ve been living in, but 7M a year for a top pairing D is a great signing. This isn’t 2010. The Rangers just added Panarin, Trouba and Kakko to go along with the 5(?) 1st round picks they had the previous 2 years. Are you ever happy?
As long as our prospects aren’t complete busts, and we’re able to add a 2C in the next three years, this team likely becomes a perennial contender for the foreseeable future. We actually free up close to $30m in cap space in two offseasons.
The Panarin contract is a huge overpay. As for Trouba I would far rather give DeAngelo a long term deal at 4-5 million per season vs the 8 or so that Trouba is getting. This is a salary capped league where you better be watching every penny and the Panarin deal will have far reaching consequences for years to come.
Where exactly is this second line center coming from. The Rangers should give the 2nd line center spot to Chytil but Quinn is just too much of an idiot to let it happen.
- Could be Chytil in time - Could be signed in two offseasons when we have $30m come off the books in garbage contracts and buy-outs We honestly need another top 4 D too, but you hope one of Fox or the 3 top two round picks we used on defense becomes that.
Give the Rangers 2-3 more years is what I told my dad. You'll be able to get a 2C next offseason because it's way better than this year's.
Chytil will never be given a chance by this coach who is completely incompetent. No this team does not need any more defensemen and they should do the right thing and move Trouba instead of overpaying him. We have Skjei (would love to move him and that stupid contract), DeAngelo,Fox Hajek, Rykov, Miller and another 5 or 6 prospects in the pipeline which makes a potential signing of Trouba for 8 million per season incredibly stupid.
Lets ignore the salary cap and overpay a few guys so we have no money in a few years to pay out homegrown talent. Why pay Trouba 8 when you can pay DeAngelo 4-5 and get just as much production.
Here is what I want for my team, let’s sign mcdavid for 5 millions a year then I want Erik karlsson and Brent burns, 6 years 2 millions each. Vasy at 2 millions backing up price at 3 millions.
Do you have any idea how much the salary cap is these days? This Panarin contract is less of a percentage of the overall cap than the Scott Gomez deal was, and the players aren’t in the same stratosphere of ability. Trouba for $8m is a great number.
As long as he’s healthy maybe he can produce. But he’s getting up there in age now plus all of his injuries. Doesn’t seem like risky deal.
I'm not tying up this much cap space on anything other than a franchise number one center or consistent 50 goal scorer. As for Trouba no he is not worth 8 million per season and they will regret that deal in no time at all.
He’s like that boomer always complaining at restaurants (“that bottle used to cost half that price!”, “40$ for a filet mignon?!”), not realizing everything’s price has gone up in the last 30 years...
sorry. I should have said CBJ was losing three of their best players. My mistake. I'll do better next time. But I do enjoy you being so obsessed that you showed up ITT for the first time since CBJ was eliminated to talk shit that the player who left your team didn't go to the Panthers but another one did. Trying way too hard as always
yup. from day 1 I was extremely confident on Bobrovksy and cautiously optimistic about Panarin. I will admit that I was extremely confident on Friday, but by Saturday night, I saw the writing on the wall.
I figured once you hired Q it was over but when the rumors of the Islanders started I knew we were signing him.
If anything, I’m most angry about the Vesey trade this morning. Only getting a 2021 3rd rounder is a fleecing (albeit a very minor one). Obviously it was simply a means to an end for cap purposes, but a bad trade for NYR in a vacuum.
lot of character and guys who are always in shape. very little talk about actual hockey playing ability.
Step 1: Simmonds parks himself next to the net Step 2: Taps in Hughes passes Step 3: Signs for 5 years with Pittsburgh on 7/1/20
The league should force him to sell if they don’t match it. He just pissed away 80 sheets on a fake football league like it was nothing.
