You said Jamie benn’s contract was « worst contract in the history of the league » and you are asking me if I am drunk?
I could also motion forward Karl alzener’s contract in mtl I would trade his contract and services for benn’s contract and services. Good deal?
Worst contract discussion starts and ends with Justin Abdelkader. Worst forward on a bad team and still has a cap hit of $4.25 for 3 more years after this year
Mtl traded a top prospect who might’ve panned out for Scott fucking Gomez and took over a cap hit of 8 millions...for 3-4 years And if you really want to be impressed look at the Gomez stats with mtl.
Franzen was fine until the concussions, plus he LTIRetired so that deal isn’t really a problem. Abdelkader, Nielsen, Helm and Ericsson all quality as some of the worst contracts in the league. Abby is only bested by Lucic though.
Marc Staal. 6 years 34.2 mill Still has another year left after this one. He has 47 points since signing that deal
It's gone under the radar because of The Cup and he's been good as a 4th liner. But Alex Steen is being paid $5.75M @ 35 years old to be a 4th liner
Benn capitalized completely off his Art Ross trophy, which he won with 87 points. The last four since then have been over 100. He is overpaid which leads to way more critics. If he was paid appropriately, I don’t think there would be near as much hate. He is never going to get back to 85+ points in today’s league. I have no issues with the Seguin deal. The Stars being awful is annoying because they have young guys that are stepping up on low contracts. Need the big names to do something
I'm sure he'll do something stupid at some point but really like how Gudas sticks up for his teammates, make a bad hit and he's gonna fuck you up instantly.
Toews IMO. He's slightly behind Backstrom in point production, but he's done it all while hardly ever playing with Kane for most of his career, while Backstrom has spent most of his career with Ovi on his line. Both very good defensively/200 foot players.
I mean, not really. He just had his most productive season ever last year and his possession numbers were in line with what he's been most of his career. Good 2 way centers largely get praise heaped on them when their team is winning, and get no attention when their team isn't. He was a little overrated for a brief period when people were calling him a top 5 player in the league for a couple years, and is probably underrated now because the blackhawks suck.
Guilty as charged Had no idea he had such a great year last year, his 2-3 years before that were pretty average though
I say this as a big Toews fan, my buddy played with him at UND, I hope Larkin follows his current Toews trajectory.
