if someone throws a punch in the nfl they are automatically ejected. If you intentionally elbow someone in the head, you are ejected. In both cases players are often suspended on top of that.
Yeah sure, these are completely different sports where you can’t really do as many cheap shots as you can as a hockey player with a stick. i would also like to see how many people are really turned down by hockey just because there is a fight once in a while.
I love the goalie looking at his blocker like it’s its fault i definitely never did something like this
Since this thread is stupid right now, I learned today that I really struggle saying 1000th. Talking to a guy at work about Backstrom’s 1000th game and it’s a tough word to say, kinda have to emphasize the th or it sounds awkward
Small anecdote but in high school the avg GPA of the hockey team was like 3.85. Football, Basketball, and Baseball were solid 2.something.
Lol, what? Talk about straight up passing judgment on such a large swath of people. What’s your opinion of other professional athletes?
This is dumb because football players are required to be there for 3 years, are heavily encouraged to show up a semester early, and are there in the summer so they take summer classes. Hockey players, if they are NHL quality, are typically leaving after 1 or 2 years.
Are they more or less dumb than guys that play baseball, football, basketball, soccer, etc? Because I’m sure you are aware of the AAU circuit in basketball and baseball or the youth academy’s for soccer around the world. That is programming at its finest. I’ll agree with you here though, NFL players by and large are the most educated. I think that has more to do with the NFL requiring them to be 3 years removed from HS.
and obviously all these bama players love school during all there years of higher learning and after too
And school doesn’t mean smart or not either, my prior example of Watson, Hernandez etc was stupid too. This doesn’t necessarily means that you are smart or dumb. But nhl players after their nhl careers is over usually do better than the other major sports athletes. This doesn’t even reallly mean that they are smarter but I really can’t understand why someone would say that nhl players are the dumbest because they answer questions from the media in a respectful and controlled way.
Didn’t see the xg for this game yet but Florida had to be favored by at least 2 against Tampa tonight and lost
Poke check there is baffling. Hall didn’t have the angle to do anything but shoot or deke to short side.
Par for the course when the panthers play Carolina or Tampa. Control pace of play and shot quality, still lose
i think he panicked because he got worried about the wrap around, that’s the only thing I see that could make somewhat sense.
Someone is going to pay Jones huge money and regret the hell out of it unless he somehow rebounds hard. Also really surprising how bad Provorov has been.
Pinto making his debut for Ottawa. interesting note, he didn’t start playing competitive hockey until he was 15. Was just a sport he played for fun in his spare time off from baseball until then. Rarely ever see that happen any more. 99% of the kids that make the league now have been hockeybots since they were 6.
I always found those outliers interesting. Some others I can remember off of the top of my head that started playing late: Owen Nolan, Ed Jovanovski, Malcolm Subban (at least playing goalie), and a lot of the California players that transitioned from roller hockey like Emerson Etem and Matt Nieto.
damn seeing Provorov there is depressing. would be cool if he could spend time paired with someone who isn't 7th dman quality for a while. problem is the Flyers don't have many of those.
The Canucks may actually be lucky that they kind of have to bridge Hughes with their cap. He’d have them by the balls in negotiations with his point totals and being the leader in TOI amongst their defensemen, so if they signed him for 8 years they’d have to pay him huge money and just pray he develops defensively.
Not surprised to see Fox on the top graph, and not surprised to see Hajek on the bottom. Hajek is not a top 6 NHL defender, maybe one day, but not today. Hopefully Zac Jones can get some ice time in a couple weeks
You are probably right. Getting in the top 6 will be harder for Jones though with Fox, Carlson, and McAvoy more than likely ahead of him
