Edmonton/Calgary is going to be such a good series. Tampa & Florida will have some bad blood as well.
Sutter drug that team down so much. They were unbelievably the more talented team. Should've won in 5 but that team was just throwing low opportunity shots on net all series.
Brutal for Oettinger - just a great performance from him tonight. Have to say that the upcoming Battle of Alberta should be a blast, though.
And the league completely fucks their ratings over by putting the Florida games at the same time as the Heat And a back to back in the second round of the playoffs is just utterly ridiculous
Honestly I don’t see the main issue as ratings. Local media (including next morning sports talk and whatever else) will lean heavily to the heat. Any media with limited staff will also prioritize the heat. but seriously a back to back especially in the nhl playoffs where you don’t know how long a game will go is nuts
At least it’s an afternoon game and no travel. I like the triple header on Sunday. Honest question how many local fans will be affected by the H2H with Heat? Agree it’s better to be opposite but we aren’t talking a huge swing here.
If I take just my family as a sample size I’m going to say quite a lot. And I don't mean that just for those who would otherwise attend both (of which there are plenty) but just even with people who would have otherwise given their full attention to both. And remember the Heat are a round ahead so it's a bigger stakes series for them. The real question is what is Marlins Man going to do?
Think it's gonna depend on which Mike Smith Edmonton gets. If he plays like he did against the Kings it could be a good series. If they get regular season Mike Smith they probably get hammered.
It’s a ton both in terms of people going to game and tv audience. Got friends and family who already listed tix to game 1 and 2 so they can stay home and watch the heat. you also have a ton less media coverage because pretty much every local media outlet will send their people to the heat game over the panthers.
If Miami cant support 2 playoff teams at the same time, it says a lot about the city. Yeah it's really fucking shitty sports fans will have to choose which game to focus on, but if that building isnt sold out... woof.
Pointing out the Stars had the fewest regulation wins by a team to make the playoffs in like a decade (that played a full season) is certainly a stupid take
I’d be surprised if the game doesn’t sell out, but there are still a ton of people who’d rather watch the heat on tv than attend a panthers game. It shouldn’t surprise anyone.
The thing to realize is just how big the Heat are too. They've earned their priority. What's a good comp? Basically the reverse if the NBA schedule the Raptors playoff series during a Leafs run? I know same arena so impossible but trying to think of trying to put into perspective that the NHL could have avoided this.
