Matheson didn't need to shove down Pettersson because he was already going down anyway after the check which was legal. I think Matheson gave him a little extra after Pettersson abused him all game.
haha, I had only heard of Boucher tonight but from what I've read he's dominant at that level but just not good enough for the NHL
Just figured the Pettersson thing was a singular person catching your eye. But posting Utica shit had me thinking you might be an actual Canucks fan. Sorry, I excite easily. Mostly my fanbases on this board are maybe 5 posters deep at tops.
He broke Stamkos' scoring record in Sarnia and has an NHL shot but can't skate for shit so he's never been able to stick in the league. Pretty wild how small the margins are to be an NHL player.
Apparently Saad might be a healthy scratch for the Blackhawks against Arizona. Trading Panarin for him
Remember the Saad vs Oshie debates... Hawks fans insisting that anyone who took Oshie were just casual fans. Oh, the irony. Good times.
Frankly I expected it to be torn ligaments in his knee/ankle so a broken leg is better. Wouldn't shock me if they made a minor trade within the coming weeks.
Didn’t have a chance to see any games yet this year, but was hoping your post the other night was off. Seems like they almost have to, right?
They like Riikola a lot and I think he's played relatively well so far, so I'm not sure. Schultz going down presumably bumps Ruhwedel into the lineup, but idk who is behind him.
That’s a tough one, not sure he threw him down on purpose. The big difference between this one and the pettersson play is that both guys were battling for the puck and kind of both in a difficult position. But i don’t like it.
He knew what he was doing with his leg in front and arm and leverage behind him, classic slew foot move (usually done tighter along the boards though), didn't need to drive him into the ice.
I agree. His elbow placement and the way he puts that pressure down on the back of his neck is a give away.
here is where I am going to be homer canes. IMO this play is worse than what Matheson did. Trouba clearly used his foot for leverage and brought the guy down face first.
Yeah, that one is probably worse tbh. He's more likely to get away with it because they were jostling for position for a while and it "looks" more like a hockey play, but he sent him down face first with his arm behind his head and leg in front the whole way.
that's kind of my point though. With Matheson/EP we are playing the result/the fact that Matheson had just had his ankles broken by Trouba and was clearly looking to hit him in return. The act itself was borderline at best but unfortunately had a bad result. IMO that shouldn't be a suspension, but it seems like it will be.
I think they should both be suspensions. You just can't send players headfirst to the ice anymore in any shape or form. Besides the obvious stuff of the danger of head injuries, those type of plays are often 2 weeks to a month type recovery times and it really hurts their teams.
but they aren't both going to be suspensions. though to nitpick, Matheson didn't send EP down head first. He landed ass/back first and unfortunately his head bounced on the ice. that's my issue with this impending suspension. EPs head was never Matheson's target on the play and Matheson never made contact with it. Using the off hand to throw/shove a player to the ice is a common hockey play.
Regardless of how you feel about the suspension, it's good that the NHL is posting these explanations for all to see. Transparency will hopefully lead to more consistency. (2 games is fair to me, considering he seemed to have played clean hockey throughout his career leading up to this)
Lol, did you even watch the play? He clearly slams his head first. I don’t know what it is with you sometimes, it’s like when one of your team is in question you completely lose touch with reality
Excuse me. It was shoulder first. Not back. Was going off memory and not watching when I made that post. It wasn’t head first though. You poor child of summer
Montreal is up 5-1 on us in the second. We are so bad and our next five are; At TB At FLA CAR WIN DAL We will probably luck into a win or two but I’m expecting Blashill is gone before November.
