Fuck. I missed it trying to look into whether nhl.tv has changed their policy. Used to let a couple of buddy’s stream using my account. Only one has tried so far this year and he’s having difficulty doing so. Anyone know if they’ve cracked down on allowing that? Haven’t been able to find anything definitive.
Pierre was talking about Arizona potentially offer sheeting Matthews. Bunch of us were talking about this last week and at first I thought won’t happen. But if they offered the max money on a 4 year deal it puts the Leafs in a tight spot. Would love to see it.
I read this article last night. The first half is all quotes from Bouwmeester. I was thinking "Dang, that is some great shade from Rutherford, calling him an ex NHL defenseman already" . Then in the second half you get quotes from the ex player. I knew my first thought wasnt correct but it was fun while it lasted. I cool w Yeo because Hitch was growing old and stubborn and not changing w the new league. I was hoping Yeo would have learned from his mistakes in Min, but nothing has really changed. I dont think it's time to cut bait so soon, but Im done w Yeo.
I don't disagree with you in general, but for a young guy with his whole career ahead of him he's also got to worry about how the NHL boys club is going to look at him down the line if he starts handing out offer sheets that are going to really piss people off. it's really stupid that it has to be that way, but we've seen how upset guys get over these things in the past.
I agree with this, plus it would be a terrible deal for the coyotes. They can’t spend to the cap, they would lose a ton of quality draft picks, would not be able to sign some of their young players and would be maybe a little better short term but not even a playoff team. Then Matthews leaves and you start all over again with absolutely nothing.
Thought he said 4 years? But for a team like Arizona who just wants to get to the floor I don’t think they could build around him. To be competitive they need a Matthews on his rookie deal plus guys like Keller on their second contracts. Or something like that, can’t see a team that can’t spend winning with one guy making 12.
Exactly. 4 years. And Toronto would have to match. Forces Toronto to not lock him up long term. The point is talking to Matthews legally and saying when you hit UFA we want you here. Offering 4 years means that he becomes UFA at 27. Giving him an 8 year deal means he’s 5 years older. Hitting the cap isn’t a concern for Arizona.
Whenever I watch the Oilers play I just think about what a difference that 6 million per year could make if it wasn't tied up in Lucic. Woof that contract looks like an abortion with 4 more years on it after this one. Looked it up and in like 52 minutes of ice time so far Lucic has taken 11 shots and 2 of them have been on net. He plays on the 2nd line with Draisaitl who is really good, and the Oilers have 3 "high danger" chances created with him on the ice.
It’s amazing that front offices still make these decisions. Everyone and their grandma knew that with the way he plays the game, that his body would start to fall apart and his production will drop. Same thing as David Backes and Brendan Morrow.
yup. the bruins who live for players like Lucic had no problem dumping him and the kings who had just paid a fortune to acquire him allowed him to walk. that should have been the hint the oilers needed, but NOPE. LETS GET LUCIC AND PUT HIM WITH MCDAVID. WHAT COULD GO WRONG?
