I agree. Montreal’s run last year, Ottawa’s in 2017… that wasn’t built on the GM making moves to sustain a few years of challenging. Edmonton still has good secondary pieces going forward on top of the some elite/high end pieces Just need more consistency from their net.
Sometimes it takes time. Mario didn’t win right away, nor did Ovi and Washington. Look at Tampa… took them a few runs as well.
every criticism of Holland was fair and people trying to play gotcha now on those takes, when Edmonton has achieved what should be the bare minimum of success with the talent they’ve been blessed with, are trying way too hard to be contrarian. or maybe it’s just “old school” guys trying to look down on analytics as usual.
is the bar so low that credit is already due? this team has the best player ever and another top 5 guy and we’re congratulating the GM for getting them to the conference finals where they will be underdogs?
i half googled bar minimum and saw that it existed so I assumed that maybe it was also a saying but upon more advanced researched I see that a bar minimum is a bar charging you a minimum for entry so if you don’t drink you can’t just eat their peanuts and go home.
The best forwards in the league only play 1/3 of the game, depth has always been an issue because of incompetence from previous regimes. It’s ok to say he made good moves it won’t hurt.
I couldn’t possibly care less about Holland. this is just such an obvious narrative being played out in the media it’s annoying to see people parrot it.
But I think holland is probably a 55% on how good of a job he did. Not awful but not good. Draistle and mcdavid’s prime should be a good ten years, no need to get into bad contracts to win now.
They won’t. It doesn’t fit their narrative that they have been parroting for years. Holland has made some poor moves and it’s just easier to say their top two players went on a rip to lead them. Has nothing to do with the others. Had they lost out, same old same old. Those two can’t do it alone!! If they suck next year, say they suck. But for now, the wanna be cool kids have to keep up their narrative and won’t acknowledge the success. Typical.
Between this and the Wilson news, it’s not a great time to be a piece of shit in this league. Hopefully Tony DeAngelo comes down with Hepatitis.
The blues are looking good right now, they can dominate a part of this game. Put pucks downlow or to the net and make their smaller d work in tight spaces
It’s hard to get into the game when we’re shitting our collective pants every time Colorado has it in the zone.
