That’s pretty brutal term on that contract for a guy already showing injury concerns. Still a great player when he’s healthy though.
It is what it is. They might be lucky and get 1 more run in the next 2-3 years but after that its going to be so bad.
Pretty happy with the Georgiev return considering the Rangers get absolutely nothing for him in a week’s time. Basically recoups the picks they gave away in the Vatrano, Motte, and Braun deadline deals.
duncan Keith is 38 and is toast. Letang is 35 and this contract hasn’t even started. The days of guys effectively playing into their late 30’s is over. Everyone is too fast now
Everyone involved in this deal knows it's really a 3-4 year deal but extended the term out to get the AAV down. Then when Letang goes into LTIRment, it gets sent to a tanking team that needs to reach the floor.
It’s weird they gave Letang 6 years but won’t go to four for Malkin. Keep them with the franchise to finish their careers and when they’re toast as players the team will get high picks out of it. I like seeing franchise players stick with one team and it’d suck to see Malkin go elsewhere.
Hopefully Drury can now dump Nemeth’s contract and one of those newly acquired picks for future considerations. Legit the only way all the NYR 2C rumors become even vaguely realistic.
Id do that. The chance of the #2 pick being as good as debrindcat is 50/50. Might as well take the sure thing. No chance I move a pick in next year's draft tho.
right, but Debrincat is two years away from UFA. Spending a 2nd overall on a player that may leave in 2 years if the Devils still can't get over the hump is bad asset management.
I wouldn’t trade him unless I’m getting a top 5-7 pick this year, an unprotected first next year, and two prospects/young players one of whom is fairly well regarded. I think they might end up with all of that but the 2023 has protections. Maybe lottery protected
Hagel got 2 late first round picks and 2 young players. Seth Jones got two lottery picks and a lottery pick from 2 years previous. Debrincat is 24 and a consistent 40 goal scorer.
Same. Take notes from Tampa and Colorado and hold off on big free agency moves/trades until you have all the important pieces in place, and give yourself as long a cup window as possible. I forget who said it in here but NHL GM's need a full time employee whose sole job is to smack their wrist with a ruler whenever they get impatient.
And once they make a move for a guy like DeBrincat, they are inevitably going to do something insane to land a goalie.
So zany to keep trolling your own fans after what you've put them through while slowly dismantling the roster
That seems fine. I have concerns about DeBrincat away from Kane but he should be a solid fit in Ottawa.
I can live with that. Sign Giroux and that’s a very solid top 6. Norris Tkachuk Batherson Stutzle Debrincat Giroux
