If he played any defense at all it’d be a tough convo between him or mcdavid being the best player in the league
They’re probably stuck with Schenn’s contract but maybe they can dump Krug on someone since he’ll only have a couple of years left. Once those 2 are done they won’t have any bad contracts as long as Kyrou doesn’t keep sucking
Krug has actually played well when he was healthy, which was not very often. It sucks for him, but I think it's more likely he's played his last NHL game than not. It's a degenerative arthritis issue.
I never got the feeling he was going to leave. Realistically there's almost nowhere he could have gone that could afford him and compete next year.
This. All the reports were that Draisaitl was the one looking to leave. No way he re-signs if McDavid doesn't give him assurances he's staying.
If McDavid leaves I hope we know what team was on his sheets so we can end the suspense before we get to July.
95% of Drai's contract is signing bonuses. (And I would bet it's front loaded) i.e. it's lockout proof if another one happens after 25-26 and he'll probably get more than half his money before he plays a game in the 3rd season of the deal. (And we'll continue to hear that small market teams have an unfair advantage bc of lower taxes)
I don’t see why either would leave. They’re consistently getting closer each year. They’ll win at least one cup eventually
They’ll never raise at the same levels or rates but someone like mcdavid should be making at LEAST 25-30 mil
Incredible, Thornton seems like such a great guy he is in love with this and wants to live it forever
pavelski had johnston and Stankoven living with him those sharks teams must’ve been amazing locker rooms to be in
when they talk about having a good mix of young and older players it is what it really means. Not on the ice, off the ice.
Still one of the coolest guys in the game as well. Favorite story about him was him being on vacation and wanting to try surfing for the first time. Bought a board, swam out, stood up on his first try, left the board on the beach and went to get tacos. Supposedly annoyingly good at anything he tries.
My favorite Thornton stories were on spittin chiclets, he would go eat with the families of young players and bring a few other players with him. He was born for this, I hated him for so long but at the end I wanted him to get a cup. Especially after all the stories I heard
Yea, the last time it was their #3 goalie. Obviously crushing for the room and org, but when it's your best player and the franchise's most valuable asset, its going to hang over them the entire season. Just brutal.
It's so weird how on the first post marek pod, he never even mentioned the elephant in the room. All of it, so strange.
