He's honestly the chillest HoFer you will run into. Always has time for fans, and after the cup win would just start convos in Twitter DMs with people to celebrate the cup win.
so funny too, he was on the Quebec version of spittin chiclets and he was so hilarious. They dug out his stats when he was having a night off and was the backup. It was abysmal and he was like ´yeah, i was playing 65 games a year, when i am off i am off. ´ went on about this one time when he had to go in in the third and already ate 4 hot dogs between periods and had mustard on his shirt.
he’s expensive and not very good anymore they should trade him for anything they can get ducks fans seem to be thrilled he wants out
So this dude admitted to having 5-6 beers (probably had more), had a .087 BAC. Wife says he started drinking more once he started WFH, and is known to be a crazy driver. Higgins has a master's degree, works in finance for an addiction treatment company,
Fox is interesting because he has no physical qualities that stand out. He’s small, slow, not strong, doesn’t have a heavy shot, etc. He just thinks and processes the game better than the vast majority of the league. His zone exit rate is also interesting because everyone else in his D core is probably in the bottom half of the league, with a few being very close to the bottom.
there is always a debate about what hockey iq really means, that is it right there. This guy was not drafted high because of all the things you mentioned but he produced at every level he played at. He just thinks faster than the other players on the ice
I think I told this story before but it is appropriate here, I played in the q and I was a scrub goalie but my first start was in Rimouski against the 2000 team that won the memorial cup. Brad Richard was on that team, he was a 19 years old holding out on tampa for a contract so he came back to junior. I was in net and my first Impression was that I was a little underwhelmed, he did not stand out by how he skated, or his shot or how big he was but as the game went on I realized that he was always one step ahead of the play and that is why he was breaking every play and when he got the puck it was impossible for my team to take it back. they scored 6 on me in the first period, only one was a softy. The coach gave me the mercy call after the first. Richard had like 4 assists on those 6 goals and all four were absolutely all his work. Could have had more too if his teammates were at his level I think they won like 11-4 or something stupid like that
Another little funny thing about that game, my coach pulls me in before the trip to Rimouski and he tells me that he watched a lot of video of Richard and he likes to come off wing and look like he is going to pass but shoot it high blocker side. Sure coach, noted. that exact situation happens in the game. Two on one, Richard’s off wing. He looks to the pass, I am standing and not even contemplating it, I am daring him to shoot. He slows down, pulls the puck back a little and saucer it over our defenseman that was trying to cut the pass by sliding. Tap in goal. I think that’s when I realized I was never going to make the nhl. These guys are absolute freaks my coach thought the guy had a tendency when he was just comfortable in that spot and he was going to take anything you gave him. I can’t even imagine facing mcdavid
