Detroit didn’t want to exceed Larkin’s AAV so they went seven years. It’s fine. He’s gotta get back on track but getting Faber money isn’t crazy.
Thats a solid number for Detroit. He got 500k more AAV compered to the guys who signed last year and he's proven a lot more.
The Raymond and Seider deals were some tidy business. With that said we're still mid af. D is really is banking on a Mo bounce back and Edvinsson being the real deal. The rest is dogshit. Goalie situation is still weird and shitty. So many bodies, and none that inspire. Have to hope Cossa is ready soon. Copp and Compher, decent players in a vacuum but not at their cap hits, tieing up 11.725 mil for the next 3 years is a bit sad too.
A lot of contracts coming off books in next 2 years of guys who contribute little, so they'll have cap room and flexibility to make moves during the length of the Larkin/Seider/Raymond contracts.
Wings cap wasn't managed great for this year, but I think in large part it was because the roster was so shit they had to give a little extra in term of aav to get some middle guys in order to raise the floor. But now looking at going into next offseason, $17+ mil coming off books with likely only potentially Kane needing a new contract and possibly Fischer or Maata on cheap short deals or Berggren as a rfa if he plays well in nhl this year. They'll let the other walk, retain most/all their contributors, have a few prospects ready to break the lineup and have 10+ mil in cap space to try and add another star or two because they don't need roster filler.
I think in the past those tournaments technically had no official stance on it, which in turn allowed those players to play. It was a bit up in the air whether that would/could change though. This is basically just reaffirming that LIV players definitely will be involved in them moving forward.
but to be fair michkov was not with ska, he was loaned to sochi because he was not good enough to play with the real club I might have consumed too much habs social media and CF3234 what you posted makes you look even weirder than mccan. You have a hard on for mtl for some reason and you are easily the person with the most homerism I have ever seen.
hard on for the Habs? nah. Hard on for a hilarious Habs homer who literally sells his scouting takes to other homer habs fans? Absolutely. The dude is a running joke in almost every analytics circle in the NHL.
Far cry from the pics that would circulate Twitter for this game in the past. So happy to see this town responding to the Panthers.
I always think these are interesting because the combination of on ice metrics + front office opinions is pretty unique.
Just saw this and first thought is it's insane how poorly NHL teams used to manage concussions. IIRC the Flyers originally sent Lindros to a migraine specialist after his first one.
Panthers Lightning tonight in Orlando. Last year had most of the regular rosters (and like 100 PIM in a preseason game). Tonight Florida bringing a fucking backup roster. I’ll enjoy going but feel like ripped off.
My kid is going to be asking who all these players are. Only 3 guys I think have their name on the cup in that roster. No idea who Tampa is bringing. edit: found Tampa.
If weather was an issue for the teams then maybe cancel? Not sure why a team would say “well travel might be tough and/or kinda dangerous so uhhhh send the b roster”. Quite a liability. this just feels like it was the case for the most part. Maybe a couple changes but not an entire roster.
More just like, leave the guys who already have homes down here behind in case the path shifts and they need to take care of their families.
I don’t think that holds up when you look at the rosters. Plenty of younger main roster guys. I can buy a couple changes but if that was really the case, they’d cancel for the safety of the players. Not just choose lesser important players.
Provorov took a slap shot off his knee and had to be helped off the ice. Couldnt put any weight on it. Jackets cant catch a break
