9 goals on 22 shots in the period and almost all the goals were terrible except for the one backhand Florida scored. Hilarious.
Only preseason obviously, but man, Hutson looks special. A bunch of NHL GM's may have galaxy brained themselves out of taking an extremely talented defenseman in the first round because he's not 6-2, again.
Unreal that no one was willing to take a shot on him in the back half of the first round. He might not pan out but if he hits he will hit big. I think he will be a poors man quinn hughes, Hughes skating takes him over the top. Hutson probably has better hands but the skating part is not that close.
I don’t think size was that much of the calculus. If you’re not gonna use it it really doesn’t matter if you’re 6’2” or 5’10”.
for guys like him it’s more important for the reach aspect. We will see how he pans out but not every big man needs to be super physical, it is such a misconception in hockey. It is assumed that if you are big you should destroy everyone physically when it really can also be used just as a tool to protect the puck. physicality is more of a mindset than a measurable, just look at tie domi. He is obviously an outlier but it fits my narrative now so i will use it
Lemieux was huge and he was as soft ‘in terms of play style, because he was not soft mentally or physically at all’ as you can get
Penguins/Wings got postponed tonight due to the Penguins having travel issues so rather than cancel the game, Detroit is going to split up the roster and play two games Monday despite the Lions playing. I hate preseason hockey so much.
some clown on Boston tried to fight Michkov tonight for some reason. Couturier stepped in and fought him which is also not ideal but good captaining I guess. Michkov had 2 goals including the OT winner. get excited.
The third replay in the tweet is telling. He readies for a hit, which naturally extends his knee as he plants, and Laine, trying to split two defenders, skates into him. Unfortunate but not dirty or reckless imo.
The second and third clips show him putting force into it when it is totally avoidable and unnecessary. He’s not in position to make any body contact (hence he doesn’t) and drives his shin into his knee.
Laine’s wide-legged stance to split the two defensemen makes contact to his knee unavoidable. This is made worse by Paré going for the hit, which is within his right. The final decisions: Not dirty. Not reckless. No suspension. Preseason hockey is worthless.
I don’t think it was really dirty either, these games are a little more dangerous because the flow of the game is not there. You have NHL guys playing with and against ahl/east coast caliber players, it makes for a game without any rythme and people find themselves in a bad spot because of it. Not to mention that a guy like pare is fighting for a job in pro hockey, he can’t just let him go. He was caught in a bad spot because he is not NHL caliber and reacted badly.
When he eventually gets signed, the Boston media/twitter space is gonna shit all over him any time he has a game below .940.
This is great. I hope they make tickets super affordable as well. Just get as many people in the building as you can.
Detroit and Buffalo are putting out rosters for tonight’s game then might honestly not be as good as whenever their AHL affiliates play this season.
Boston front office been living so hard off the rep gained by Marchand and Bergeron both exploding the year after they signed extensions.
When is Shesty gonna “reset” the goalie market (even though his rumored hit would be below Luongo, Price, and Lundqvist)?
