I know this is going against the thread but I'm not surprised. The stick gets caught in the skate funny and brings his arm up and Crosby down I think his other elbow was worse
Yea, if Oshie got the benefit of the doubt, so was Trouba because the stick does get caught. Figured that since it was Crosby they would still suspend, but the wheel of justice strikes again.
My biggest issue with it is that by getting off scott free, this hit won’t be considered in his punishment when Trouba inevitably does this again. First time suspensions are rarely first time offenses, yet they get treated that way because borderline hits get no judgment. When in doubt, fine and count fines as first time offenses for future repeat judgements.
have they said what Crosby's injury is? I thought I heard lower body but not sure if that was speculation.
Is there a better angle of the play other than the one that looks like it was zoomed in on using a Nokia phone?
yeah thats a bit better but still odd there isn't anything better since thats where the puck is. Cmon ESPN. lol at the title "huge hit". I think I'm actually ok with this decision looking at it. He reached for and made contact with the puck and then as they come together it looks more like he's trying to brace and stay up. Would not call that headhunting in any sense. Unfortunate contact to the head. That said if they did suspend him id also understand since you "gotta protect your stars" but I dont see much wrong there.
the thing is he's not lining up to make a hit. He's reaching for the puck and they come together. I dunno if ESPN had a better shot of his approach maybe its different but just based on the video above.
ya the puck goes by him and he doesn’t want crosby to get around him so he throws his elbow out. Maybe he didn’t mean to hit him in the head but he did. To me the onus is on the guy throwing his arm out
Trouba’s a shit bag and I’d be ok with a fine just to keep documenting his transgressions, but I don’t think this one is suspension worthy. If anything he’s drawing his elbow in to take the unexpected hit, can’t get it in because his stick is caught, and it catches Sid in the face. Sucks it happened but doesn’t seem egregious to me. Edit: could also be convinced he’s trying to throw the wing out to prevent Sid getting by him, but doing so from an awkward position.
The NHL is awesome because it can have two super fun games totally overshadowed by DoPS multiple times in one round.
I love how the NHL keeps putting goons as the head of player safety. It’s too bad bob probert is dead, probably could have found work
Yeah Crosby moves right because he is the one sho sees the puck. Trouba is just continuing forward and I guess reacts to brace for the contact and catches him. Definitely don't see any intent there like I thought there was last night when I first saw it.
It's called a recent example of a borderline play that got the benefit of the doubt. I can't use the Nurse play because he did get suspended. But keep on with your drive by bull shit.
Hid Ratness doesn’t have the guts to do it straight up, and knows he’d be tossed if he blindsided someone again.
Listening to The Athletic live room thing with Mike Russo and Jeremy Rutherford. Russo is obviously an admin but the room is at capacity so he’s locked out lmao.
All you’re going to read or hear is from team officials. They’re tight-lipped about injuries to the point where it’s annoying. I don’t think Sullivan even confirmed that Jarry broke his foot and it came out through some beatwriters.
All I’ll say is I won’t miss this identical jersey swap series where I constantly have to actively think which team is which
