lol I am going to watch so many Flyers games this year if only because the amount of goon shit they are doing to teams in the second half of games when they are down 4-1 will be impressive.
I agree. It’s more than oettinger who doesn’t have the pedigree but has proved more. I figured Knights deal would be in the 3.5 range.
Darryl sutter being second on that list is reminiscent of Jon Scott making the all star game, I think it’s the joke
Would give the Panthers a really significant cap boost right when Reinhart, Lundell, Forsling, and to a lesser extent Duclair need new contracts.
Laf would need a serious year to earn that. Miller probably deserves that, but we’re praying a lack of PP time keeps the number down. It will be an interesting off-season, for sure. A Barclay Goodrow buyout seems inevitable.
Was half joking. Seems sens hand them out. Different cap structure for the team as we have/had more open cap space going forward to lock guys up. Miller deserves it; Laf not yet. Both should get then but bridge might be the best option for both player and team.
Derek Lalonde had the best response I’ve seen to the list Lalonde was even more incredulous when told the rankings, released by gambling.com, had David Quinn of the San Jose Sharks at No. 29. "If David Quinn is at the bottom and I’m at the top, that’s a bad, bad list," Lalonde said.
Apparently the kid who went #1 in the WHL draft this year looks like a future star. From way up north but starred in Kelowna at some hockey academy. Same one where Iginla is with his boy. Heard he wanted his kid to shine and was willing to buy up 4/5 spots in the team so his kid would get extra ice time. Odd…
This is a very weird story, but of course lots of neck beards are super excited Dorrie is gone and that seems to be taking up the oxygen around the story.
Good article on 50th anniversary of Summit Series. Documentary on it is still gold. https://theathletic.com/3608206/2022/09/28/canada-summit-series-50-years/
Lol after the rumors why she lost her job with the Devils she sounded like a total head case, her own Twitter account pretty much confirmed that
I have Liam McGuire on my FB and he’s been pumping a new book or something. Constantly posting pics of the players and stories to go with them. Some good stuff.
I know nothing about her other than that she is a darling of the Main stream hockey media. But if she's battling mental illnes, that's not ideal.
You’d think a journalist could include his name and location when talking about a prospect. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/576982/gavin-mckenna
What exactly are we supposed to be outraged about here? It’s all the rage to tweet “Burn.It.Down” on a weekly basis but based on all of the information that’s come out to date, I’m struggling to see why we’re crucifying everything to do with Hockey Canada at this point?
that there was so much sexual assault going on that they had a dedicated fund of millions of dollars to pay out legal fees. As opposed to you know, confronting the problems. Also I’m sure paying members of hockey Canada don’t want their funds to be used for covering up and paying out sexual assault cases.
- It’s not a dedicated fund for sexual assault - It’s no secret that there’s been a problem with hockey culture and governance related issues for decades. Even if everything was perfect, it’s hard for a governing body to prevent sexual misconduct at all levels of the sport, across an entire country. I believe it’s been reported that the vast majority of claims paid out have been for the Graham James case, which was a disgusting story, but hardly new news. - I see the term cover-up used a lot, but I haven’t seen evidence that anything was covered up. At least for the WJC 2018 incident, the incident was promptly reported to the police. - Re: parent fees, what is the alternative? If Hockey Canada gets sued, where is the money supposed to come from? I don’t doubt there will be things Hockey Canada will have done wrong and/or things that can be done differently going forward, but can we at least wait until an investigative report is released ala the Blackhawks?
The fund is a symptom of the issue. Not the issue itself. There’s a lack of institutional control if the answer is reactively paying victims instead of proactively stopping the behavior. I get having the fund for instances that already occurred. But what has been done to curtail future instances?
I knew something like that was coming but I’m not even a Canadian hockey fan. Club over country. Generally boring, robotic players and the way Hockey Canada/TSN built up the world juniors hype in the 2000s was borderline xenophobic. But that doesn’t mean we have to put the cart before the horse and make things up / present things disingenuously.
Your last question is what I keep wondering about. What’s leading to these instances and what can you do to rectify it? Or in this case, why haven’t you done more to stop this?
World juniors I agree with. Have little time for it outside of keeping an eye in Sens prospects. And I agree with you in the let all the facts come out before we make head to toe changes. But there needs to be major changes going forward based on an investigation/commission.
