What Gordie Howe did in his later years is just incredible. NHL has been hyping the shit out of Marleau still playing, putting up 9 points in 46 games as a 41 year old. In Gordie’s 41 year old season he put up 71 points in 76 games in the NHL. When he was 51! he put up 41 points in 80 games.

 

It is incredible but comparing point totals in hockey from the past to now is like comparing passing yards from current qbs to the past. It's not the same sport.

 

Definitely don’t disagree. Pat Maroon could put up 100 points a season back in Gretzky’s prime

There’s really not a debate. Gretzky had the better career, Mario was the better player.

 

Anyone see the Headlines segment from Sportsnet last night? Freedman talked about Toronto Maple Leaf players pooling their own money together to help augment the salaries of their AHL team. Incredible gesture.

Why don’t games ever start on time? I was told Bruins Pens starts at the top of the hour, so puck drop should be around :07. It’s:07 and the zambonis are just getting out there. This happened last weekend too.

So in the Central we have Nashville, Dallas, Chicago battling it out for the last spot. Tampa, Carolina, and Florida are about to clinch their spots.

East is pretty locked in with Washington, Pittsburgh, Islanders, and Boston.

In Canada it’s Toronto, Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Montreal.

In the West, Arizona and St. Louis battling it out for the last spot with Vegas, Colorado, and Minnesota already clinched.

Sucks there’s so little drama for the playoff spots with this set up.

I was mostly just memeing a while back when I said it but I am starting to really wonder if the Bruins could extend their cup window a couple years if they just rolled the dice with swayman and Vladar the next couple years.

It could backfire hard obviously, but they’re such a one line team as is, and Marchand and Bergeron aren’t getting any younger. I don’t think they’re winning another cup without adding more scoring at F and that might give them a way to do it.

 

Swayman has given zero reason to doubt him. He’s been dominant everywhere he’s been, USHL, College, AHL, NHL.
