That type of shot is impossible to track down, he was a little off on his positioning. He bit on the inside move too
Trotting out this defense and goaltending year after year sure is embarrassing. I feel for Eichel being stuck here. he must hate it. At least he can put up some #s with Hall. who are we tanking for this year?
He saved 27 of 28 shots from that location on the ice last year, and it’s a low danger shot in general historically.
this year is not a great year to tank. The first 3 or 4 are nice but nothing incredible the year after that will have a few great prospects,
i get it but when I look at the actual video I understand why he missed that one. The d played it poorly and his stick got in the way. These things will happen your stats are nice but they do not account for this play, it was a bit fluky and very hard to read as a goalie. You read the stick, people think that a goalie reacts so fast because he sees the puck so well. Half the time you read the stick or you are done. So when a defender puts a stick on a shooters stick it really fucks your read as a goalie. But as a team you take it, it’s a fluke play. You still want your d to try to take the shot away. Percentage wise it’s better
Dylan Larkin's first game as captain of the Red Wings. 24-years-old from Michigan and captain of the Wings. Whoa
Cozens is exciting but that’s it. Dahlia hasn’t shown much in two years to make me think he will be anything beyond a slightly above average offensive d-man. Having seen anything resembling the promised super stardom.
dahlin is incredible, Buffalo cannot waste him mittlestadt is also an issue but he was always a bit of a risk as a prospect
Sam Gagner and Dougie Hamilton just fought. I assume it was over late fees Dougie accrued on Sam’s library card.
Flames Jets. Hannifan w a nasty cross check that nailed Connors head against the glass and all hell broke loose.
44 points as an 18yo D, 40 points in 59 games as an 19 years old. “Nothing makes me think he will be anything beyond a slightly above average offensive d-man”. Just how big of a fucking moron do you have to be.
On Insider Trading last night, Seravelli said teams are calling on Barkov because there is a belief he won’t re-sign with Florida. Doesn’t sound like a move is happening but people around the league are keeping their eyes on the situation.
He is signed through next season and has a no movement clause right now. Can’t negotiate an extension until next summer. Would be a risk for a team taking him on that they can sign him. A trade next summer when he would be able to sign an extension with a new team would seem to make more sense.
any particular top 4 dmen expected to come available this season? definitely the biggest hole on the flyers right now while everyone is healthy. I think they'll have to make a move at some point.
I don’t know that he would accept the trade and he has an NMC but the lightning are going to have to move Ryan mcdonagh at some point. I think they will try and do it in the summer though and give the core of the team another run at a cup this season.
Panthers aren’t worried yet. Barkov has not made comments to the org that he wants out or won’t re-sign. That could change if this season is a disaster, but right now this is a nothingburger story. Huberdeau is the player that concerns them but that’s 3 years away
This is an important year for Dahlin tbh. Obviously he has all the tools but to this point he’s been yet to put them together. It’s not just Buffalo being bad, either. It’s that his first two years they didn’t really improve with him on the ice compared to a bunch of other bad to mediocre defensemen on the team. He got handed the 1D spot this year largely because risto was so horrendous there they had no choice but to basically say “sink or swim.” If he does well there this year then that’ll be great news. If he struggles again I’d start to worry that he may never be what the Sabres hoped.
Can’t believe people are ripping on Dahlin. To play the minutes he does and put up points while playing on a perennial bottom 5 team is pretty solid at his age. I like their coach and think if they get good goaltending dahlin will elevate to an elite D man in the near future.
Rumour has it Sens are looking into PLD ( as is everyone). Wouldn’t give up any of our top young players for him ...Stutzle, Chabot or Tkachuk. But put a signed Barkov on the table and for sure I’d include one Stutzle or Tkachuk plus Sanderson.
Quinn continues to be clueless for the Rangers. After playing Jack Johnson for more than 20 minutes last night - where we saw him prove he shouldn’t be an NHLer - he gets bumped up to the 2nd pair. Gauthier is clearly the best Ranger forward on the ice, and gets demoted to the 4th line. Kakko gets moved down to the 3rd line to play with plugs and moved off the PP, after he had a “breakout camp”. This Rangers roster stinks. We know that. Everything should be done to put the youngsters in roles to help with their growth. Instead, Quinn is looking to bench them for guys who have sucked for years. This team is going to be a mess this year, mostly because the coach has no clue what he’s doing. Bet against them regularly, especially against a coach like Barry Trotz.
Columbus is going to get really bad value for PLD. Whenever one of these top players asks out of a small market, their fanbase pumps out their chest about how they still have leverage given all the suitors. They don’t have that leverage. They never do. They’re likely going to get scalped on a deal. It sucks, but it happens time and time again. Wouldn’t be shocked if he goes for a young 2nd liner and a pick/prospect, not the big name they’re expecting.
Idk. They still have 4 years of control. He can play hardball and say he won’t re-sign with certain teams, but 4 years of PLD is worth quite a bit.
Jarmo doesn’t seem like the kind of guy to just give a guy away. And Torts has zero fucks about dealing with a guy that doesn’t want to be there. Both guys seem to be great at compartmentalizing.
If he’s going to be loud about wanting out - which has already prompted rumors of a deal happening sooner rather than later - they lose leverage the bigger of a complainer he becomes. Not good for the room.
that's fine, but they still have plenty of leverage in that they can take the best offer after a bidding war. PLD only has so much power here and 4 years of team control is going to be worth quite a bit on the open market.
Will they actually get the bidding war though? I don’t think those happen as much as fans expect they will. In this particular case, it’s already been reported there’s only two or three teams seriously interested and could make it work.
