Ehlers seems to be dragging his feet on a decision. Makes me think we won’t go over our last offer and he’s trying to see if a bigger deal pops up. Hoping we don’t lose him but not looking great.
Feels like he may have missed the boat on what he really wanted. From rumors, he wanted a team that was ready to compete or close to it, and had opportunity in their top 6/1st power play unit. Now it feels like all the teams that had that don't have the cap space any more. My guess is either Utah or Carolina.
I mean, that is literally us. He goes to Aho’s wing day 1 and we have $20m in cap coming off 7 straight playoffs with 3 ECFs. Tough to beat that combo.
Early 20th century hockey names are like AI trying to come up with English names with only a thesaurus as a reference
I haven’t seen any numbers but I’ve assumed we’d go to 9-9.5 given the market, the need and the cap room.
I like Tulsky. It seems like he knows who he wants to target but is big on collaborating with all parties on the team and making sure everyone wants to sign off.
This is the main reason they jettisoned Wadell. Everyone would come to a consensus and he would override and go a different direction.
feeling attacked. Relying on guys like Marchand and Burns to keep me from being older than every player in the NHL.
Another great example of #hockeyculture Absolute inability to send a 200 character message on your phone from the cottage. Can’t be done
Nothing wrong with that. They have beaucoup cap space and he’s off the books in time for the Celebrini second contract.
Excited about Ehlers, tho his appeal is largely driven by market scarcity. The 2C thing is still completely valid, but the free agent market is a barren dessert and with the cap increase lots of teams think they are building. We seem to have not found much appetite for moving top 6 centers, shocking as that may be. Seems like we might try Jarvis in the middle given we’ve got a billion good not great wings now.
the cheating going on during a face off is pretty hilarious. Former players also said that they knew some officials were never calling it so they would cheat even more.
If BUF is insisting on NHL ready players I'm not sure how the Blues pull that off without harming their forward situation. I doubt Faulk, a 1st and some secondary pieces get it done.
Yeahhhh, there's no doubt he's a really high skill defenseman, but he hasn't been a good 5v5 player for a couple years now on multiple teams. Who knows, the Blues completely turned around Fowler's bad underlying numbers, but he's definitely not a guy I would want to throw a huge contract at.
Such a good post. Everybody’s 3rd rounder is an absolute stud until they randomly stop hearing about them and they fade into oblivion
