Panthers had their chances tonight and just didn’t convert. Leaf’s doing this without Matthews getting any puck luck.
Leafs should feel lucky as shit to be up 2-0. Largely outplaying both games. Got the puck luck. Should be 2-2 coming back.
Toronto had more expected goals and the deserve to win meter in game 1. Panthers did not outplay them game 1.
First moneypuck I take with a grain of salt and only tracks shots at the end of the day. But 5 on 5 it’s largely panthers. They’re controlling play and nearly all these leafs goals have been just capitalizing on a bad play or bad goals by Bob. Leafs PP looks mostly like Tampa’s did. Panthers still look better over the course of the pace of the game.
I mean that is playoff hockey. Story as old as time with a team controlling play but not hitting chances and then letting single chances end up in your net. panthers top 6 though need some sort of revelation as far as what combo is going to work because it’s getting late for 2023/2024 playoff Verhaeghe to show up. God only knows his linemates are giving him the looks. have a feeling Tkachuck might jump back up to line 1 unless he’s hurt becusse he kinda looks like it
Play has been very even so far through two games. Bob has been average and Florida has missed some chances. Leafs PP has been atrocious and Matthews hasn’t done anything in the offensive zone 5 on 5. Leaf’s defensemen might be league average (or worse) but their forwards are collectively amongst the best defensively in the league so not surprised they are shutting down Florida’s top 6 a bit with having the last change.
Jets are such an inoffensive team to me, so them. I don't find them incredibly likable either, but at least if they win the possibility of me having to watch Jamie Benn win a cup is removed
Not a single hat on the ice for a natty hatty. Surely there’s one or two dallas fans in the lower bowl
Hellebuyck has to be losing his mind. I think he's actually played quite well this game and that's just two brutal deflections on goals 2 and 3.
The liberal bastion of Texas has turned into Elon’s stomping grounds. I’ll opt for “not much going on” over being in that loud and proud paste-eating state.
Love the logos, uniforms/color palette, and unique name. Wouldn't mind seeing an alternate uni with the mountain blue as the primary color. Nice job, Utah.
Something not discussed: does Utah look to trade the 4th overall? It’s clear they want playoffs asap and I don’t think they’re far away from that.
Francois St. Laurent made the call. The history between him and Maurice is well documented. Now we just wait for the Banks to wake up and tell me I'm wrong despite the mountain of evidence saying otherwise.
