It’s way easier to swallow an early series playoff loss when you’re clearly second best and get blown out, rather than losing some tight game in overtime. If the boys are reading this: let’s bounce back in Boston Friday night.
Not sure how accurate but there was something about Dubas being interested in Keefe if he was fired and Sullivan going to NJ. I'd be cool with that or Woodcroft. Assuming Berube to Toronto.
He is, but Keefe has a track record now of not being able to get it done in the playoffs. Toronto couldn't keep running it back. IMO they SHOULD give the Core 4 one last shot with a new voice at the top, but wouldn't be surprised if Marner goes this offseason.
I'm on the Oilers bandwagon for Mattias Ekholm alone. Loved him on the Preds and glad to see him playing so well for Edmonton.
Thank god. He’s probably the most physical player on the stars. Should probably scratch Hintz instead because Deboer said he was hurt yesterday without actually saying it
Hasn’t played in nearly a month, and gets to face the presidents trophy winner in a must have game. Good luck, rook!
Yep, pretty obvious it’s not a rest issue. Especially considering he had almost a week of rest coming into the series.
Andersen has been really good outside of the Panarin goal in game 1. Not his fault the power play is 0’fer.
His inability to control the rebound preceding the Kreider goal last game wasn’t great, but I don’t think he’s been poor outside of that. This feels like a coach trying to find an answer. Though the bad news for the Rangers is these are the situations where they’ve historically made young goalies look like future Vezina candidates in short stints.
Kochetkov has also played the Rangers twice this year and only gave up 2 goals with like a .960 save %. Playoffs are obviously a different beast but he’s a crazy Russian so maybe we can match that energy.
Schmid got way too much credit, him starting coincided with the PK adjustments that stopped leaving Kreider wide open next to the net. Kochetkov has a few years now of success
This. You aren't down beacause of your goalie. You are down because you are getting crushed on the PK and you can't score at 5 on 5. Not the time to panic, but it seems like he is.
not sure I'd call it panicking. Carolina has always been a team that has moved goalies in and out of the lineup. and Kochetkov played more than anyone for them this year.
You are right, but he also hasn't started a game in a month. If you were going to be rotating goalie team, doing it in a series that was a sweep was the perfect time to establish that.
Correct, the obvious thing to do was get Kooch a start against the Isles. Lots of folks said it, but we had 2 different 2 day breaks in that series so Rod just let Andersen have it. Now we’re paying the cost, so to speak.
