10.5 is probably not outrageous for Marner if he signs for 7 or 8 IMO. His closest comparable is probably Blake Wheeler who signed for 8.25/5 a year ago. Mark Stone got 9.5, Skinner got 9.
if the Flyers were going to do something dumb this offseason I wish it would have been a ridiculous Marner offer sheet.
A team with cap space can get a decent return for taking on that contract. Vegas still has to sign Karlsson and others too.
right, what im saying is that Clarkson's no-trade list doesn't matter. They could trade him to Ottawa and it wouldn't matter to Clarkson. He will never step foot in the building.
I've been advocating the Hawks offer sheet Marner. If they're going to go for it while Kane and Toews still have something in the tank, adding a 90 point 22 year old is a good way to try.
a team with a bunch of bad contracts and players who are declining. Sounds like a great time to trade 4 straight 1st round picks.
The Hawks really have 1 bad contract which is Seabrook. Toews and Kane just put up career highs in points. 1st round picks in the mid to late 20's aren't really that valuable as they play more than 100 NHL games about 25% of the time.
there's the problem with your plan. You assume picks in the late 20s. 84 points last year. 76 the year before. This isn't a team that should be gambling away first round picks right now.
Thats 6 points off of a playoff spot and they had the 7th pick last year and the 3rd this year. I'll assume Cam Ward and his .897 save% isn't going to play 33 games next year. The Hawks were in playoff contention until the last week last year and thats after having a streak early in the season when they won 3 out of 22 games.
Thats obviously the huge worry. Concussions have fucked him up the last 2 seasons. Honestly wouldn't surprise me if next year is his last year in pro hockey. Concussions are no joke. Delia looked solid in his time up from Rockford last year.
That is why its a good idea to bring in a 22 year old super star. As you phase the older players out, they are replaced by Debrincat, Marner, Strome, and hopefully Bovqist and whoever they take at 3.
Ehlers reportedly on the block and they're looking at one of the Canes RHD. Related note: Hamilton is one of the most overrated players in the league IMO and that trade would be a big mistake for Winnipeg.
Depends if the coach likes young players or is one that leans heavily on vets even if they are struggling. Oh nevermind.
Gorton said his hope is there are more moves coming to accelerate the Rangers' rebuild enough to where they can become a playoff contender next season. They have missed the playoffs the past two seasons and finished 20 points out of a postseason spot this season. From NHL.com... Rangers offseason about to get more fun.
I want one more top 5 pick and then they might have a shot at the playoffs the following season. Gorton is basically announcing that if they don't land Panarin which I think has almost no shot at happening that he will go all Sather and pay someone like Duchesne 10 million per season.
Toronto is in a terrible position. How many huge contracts can they give out and still fill out the rest of the roster.
I really don’t get you How are they in a terrible position with all that top talent. They don’t have to sign all of them. You always talk about getting a few top five picks in a row....well that’s what happens when you hit on many of them
Do you want the Rangers to bench Henrik and scuttle the young players development in the hopes of getting the top pick next year? And if they don’t, do you want them to tank again the following year. Because we all know a top 5 pick isn’t a cant miss prospect.
Yeah your right about that. I wish the Rangers had the problem of too many great players that they had to pay instead of the issue of overpaying less than stellar talent.
I would want Hank to agree to go somewhere else like San Jose. If the Rangers do the right thing and play all the young guys they are a definite lottery team even if a few of them develop faster than expected.
So if he doesn’t agree to leave, and all indications are that he doesn’t want to, what’s the plan? They can’t bench him
I've been a fan of the Wizards/Bullets for 30 years so get it, Flyers currently are along those lines.
They aren't a playoff team with or without Hank so if he chooses to stay that's ok. Just give Staal lots of ice time and use Howden and Andersson as the 2nd and 3rd centers and the tank is on.
Who the fuck thought Hurricanes or Islanders were clear playoff teams last year, can easily see Rangers or Devils making playoffs this year unless they're in tank mode.
The Hurricanes were a good team that was just held back by awful goaltending and the Islanders only made the playoffs on unsustainably good goaltending. The Islanders are going to be awful next year.
