They have 20/23 under contract for next year, 8 RFAs (Boeser, Leivo, Motte, Goldobin, Hutton and possibly Granlund are the ones they'll resign), and 1 UFA (Schenn) with $17.7M in cap space to do it which would put them at 26/23 or 27/23 roster. They need to get rid of guys not add them.
Would like it on record that teelsy is a big fan of Davies but turning a 7th rounder into the key piece for Subban and his contract seems good tbh
Karlsson has a shooting percentage of 23 and 14 the last two seasons. If he falls below 10, this might turn into one of the worst deals in the league, pending the AAV.
Every sports town ever loves the idea of the hometown kid playing for your team. I think it's pretty cool. It's kind of part of the civic pride that goes w rooting for a team.
I'm talking all of British Columbia have you seen how big BC is? These idiots think that just because they were born and/or grew up in BC that they want to play for the Canucks.
Mtl journalists are notorious for this shit, they want the local French speaking guy all the time even if he sucks. Makes it way easier on their job. Drives me nuts. Also drives me nuts that mtl misses on every good French Canadian. They have an issue with scouting Quebec. They just waste a late pick every.single.year on a French Canadian that sucks just so they can throw a number at the critics and say « look guys, we drafted more French Canadians than a lot of teams »
Waaayy worse, I am sure. Some fuckers threw tantrums because mtl didn’t pick Lavoie......over caufield! Are you fucking kidding me
BC: Vancouver and Victoria metros make up about 3 million people or 60% of the population. This is just the population
Same with mtl, and when you actually know what’s going on they all want to get as far away from mtl as they can. The treatment that drouin got this year was absolutely unreal. Maybe he isn’t that good, stop puting him on a all star level to the public and then bring it all down on the kid when he doesn’t produce. Day after day. Lecavalier wanted no part of mtl, briere wanted no part of mtl. They won’t say it but they know that coming to mtl is a disaster waiting to happen
Next year with the draft in Montreal I expect you guys to land the number one pick and get Lafreniere which will be the biggest thing to happen for that franchise in a very long time.
There is absolutely no chance and I would not wish that on the kid. Mtl won’t finish last next year and if they trade everything to get him they are stupid. Unless it’s a bunch of picks and a few prospects. Nobody will bite on this
The chances are very low, they could be a bottom 10 team if everything goes bad. If not they should be like last year or maybe a little worse. Depending on the young players and price That means like a 3% chance of getting the first, they would have to offer the moon to move up to first
Only way I could see this work out is mtl getting so many injuries that they finish last but he is not expected to be the savior when everybody comes back healthy the next year. That would be the dream scenario.
Next year's draft is very deep. I want the Canucks to be high in the draft lotto next year and trade Tanev, Sutter, and other expendable assets to get more draft picks (hopefully another 1st).
You guys seem to want to win which makes no sense. I know I want one more tank season for the Rangers and the Canucks should want the same.
Aquaman wants that playoff dough. Another tank season would be huge for the Canucks rebuild. Just need another D. Dream scenario: Don't sign any UFAs other than Schenn this offseason. Tank and get a top 5 pick. Trade Tanev, Sutter, etc at the trade deadline for picks (hopefully get a 1st and 2nd-7th picks) Use those picks to trade up into the top 15. Draft a high end skilled forward and projected top 4 D preferably a RHD. Rebuild done. Go after Barrie next offseason. Get Tryamkin to come back for the 20-21 season and add Podkolzin for the playoffs. Finally get knock out in the 1st Rd. I hope a few of these things happen unfortunately I think GMJB's job is on the line this upcoming season. Fire him after the 2020 draft.
The Canucks should make the playoffs 20-21 season unless something crazy happens. I think their range is huge for the 19-20 season, bottom 5 team - playoffs.
That Byfield kid is a man already at 6'4" 210lbs, plays C, and is 10 months younger than Lafrenière. Lafrenière will go #1 OA, but Byfield is a hard #2 OA which could make a run at #1 OA.
Lucas Raymond is better than Byfield. I like Byfield but he has a ways to go. That isn’t to say he won’t get there but right now I think Raymond is the clear second best player in the class.
I think Byfield will dominate games when he learns to use his body (already physically aggressive) even more besides the speed and skill for a guy his size.
NHL players have no chill. I’ve had that and more happen to me at a similar age. They love messing with young goalies.
