Is this the longest nhl playoff streak of home team holding serve?
Yay team. Can’t wait to look like dog shit in MSG and then come back for a series win
4 goals in 70 seconds
can anyone name a more entertaining series than this one if it goes 6-7?
Draisatl had 14 points in 5 games, he may deserve more love
Can’t believe they ruled that a kick.
Absolute terrible ruling there. The intent of the rule is for player safety. There was no distinct kicking motion and there was no concern for player safety.
He’s the second best player in the league.
Not sure what Coleman can do there as he’s being slightly pushed into that area anyways. As always with these reviews, show that in real speed and tell me the player had a chance to change his course of direction.
I fucking walked my dog after the first. I am an idiot.
Good call that was a kick
remember when ESPN had Conor 5 and Drai 11 in their "best players in the playoffs" rankings because I do
Also: MacKinnon is #2 for me but I'm not mad at you for putting Drai #2
I guess he lunged his leg forward at the last second. But that is tough. He had no option
Flames got fucked hard
There’s a good conversation there at #2. #1 is not a discussion. The Canadian media are disingenuous dipshits for ever questioning him. He’d walk circles around Gretzky.
I was slightly pulling for the Flames in this series but it’s an absolute joy to watch McDavid in these playoffs. Such a great talent.
Good thing Edmonton had the foresight to keep Holland. Looks like he’s built a solid squad.
You mean McDavid and draisaitl have gone god mode.
The difference in the series was a very leaky goalie, and it was Markstrom, not Smith.
Wouldn't have expected that before the series
lol at McCarthy trying to sell his sucker punch as anything else but a sucker punch.
I feel like he saw McCarty coming, so I’d say not a sucker punch. Whatd he think McCarty was coming to do?
Hyman, Kane, Ceci, Keith, Bouchard. All doing their part to help the Oilers.
Rip on Holland all you want, his team is in the third round. They aren’t making it without the whole team contributing.
Hyman- a player they massively overpaid with term
Kane- a good player that most other teams wouldn’t touch with a 10 foot pole because of his off ice issues
Keith-slightly better meh on an awful contract
bouchard-I’ll give him this one
How does Duncan Keith have an awful contract?
That cap hit is insane for his production
The two best players in the league, neither of whom he is responsible for, probably top 10 all time when it’s all said and done, playing in their prime, playing their best hockey.
Hyman had 27 goals, is point per game in the playoffs with 8 goals and his impacts go beyond offense. Adjust your preseason takes, teelsy did!
Nobody said Hyman was a bad player. He’s just not a player whose body will age well and Holland gave the guy 7 years.
Why are you worried about years down the road when they have the two best players in the world in their prime
You shouldn't, the Oilers drafted him a year before Ken Holland was their GM
he’s playing on the second pairing for a team in the western conference final and he’s making what, 5.5 per? That’s not out of line for a second pairing defenseman
Maybe McDavid and Draisatl finally reached their potential because they finally have a supporting cast. Now they can play their game and not have to carry every line.
He's playing on the second pairing for a team that just gave up 20 goals in five games in a series they somehow won 4-1, yes
Yes, but he hasn’t just left him in the minors. Could have marinated him further in Bakersfield but gave him the ropes this year to play.
Because that’s what Florida fans do.
This looks incredible
You can say meh or long term or ten foot pole all you want the fact is Holland put pieces together for his team who are now in the conference finals. That’s his sole responsibility.
Rip him when he makes poor moves or his team fails. But give him his credit when they win.
It’s this same mentality that got Bergevin GM of the year votes moments before his house of cards completely collapsed.
I get it. It’s a fluke and can’t possibly be the GM who built the team into a winner this year.
No Weber, no Price, no Danault, no Perry, no Kotka. Big difference.
he was above water at evens this year even though most of his zone starts we’re in the defensive zone
The fact that him having the two best players in the world, in their prime, playing their best hockey, and they have only been in the top 4 once is an absolute travesty and failure.
GM of the year award shouldn’t be given out to someone that mortgaged the franchises future and won nothing, it should be given out to people who have positioned the franchise to be successful for the foreseeable future.
This time last year people were rushing forward to blow Marc Bergevin. That’s all I’ll contribute to this discussion.
Keep the lazy comparisons coming when everyone knows that was all Carey Price and not difference making moves from the GM #PraiseHolland
it’s never like that, if it were you would have to give the award a few years later. The architect of the Anaheim ducks was not the gm that won 2 cups.
I agree with what you are saying about bergevin though, that was the flukiest of all flukes. This team had no business being in the finals. I am in between with bergevin, he did an ok job. Some great moves, some terrible moves. He never seemed to have any long term idea of what he wanted but I am not sure it’s all on him.
