Based on how Yzerman is answering questions about his future, I would be shocked if he isn’t in Detroit next season as the President of Hockey Operations. I don’t think he will act as GM though. My guess is Draper gets the job.
Yeah. Draper is basically Holland’s understudy right now. Has been for a while. He comes off as very progressive in interviews that he does.
If Yzerman is here next year, chances are one of his first duties will be to name Larkin the new captain. How symbolic.
Grew up on my street. His brother is a buddy of mine and scout for Tampa. He should come back to Ottawa, save the franchise and get his kids closer to the grandparents.
Sens are desperate to sell tickets. Heard the season ticket base is around 6,000. They are offering STH’s 50% off game day tickets for October and November. At this point the fans need to boycott and bleed him dry.
https://theathletic.com/522117/2018...is-i-could-not-stand-being-alone-in-my-brain/ Kid has always had real issues that he’s had to deal with. His pops didn’t do him any favours. The first time I interviewed him I thought somethings not right here. Over the years you never knew if he would snap at you or be chill and want to have a non hockey talk.
Medicals today for the Sens. Doubt the Sens make the move today on Karlsson. Unless Eugene pulls a heavy and says take the best deal by end of day.
If I am a hockey reporter I wouldnt report news like that at this point. I would be fine taking the L and not breaking that story. Senators have already backed out of a few deals that were reported as done or near done.
I know EK can’t stand the owner and GM. Sens pulled out of a deal at TDL and I heard EK nixed a deal around draft. I wonder if these are just a big FU to the other side when done.

The Dallas Stars signed Tyler Seguin to an eight-year, $78.8 million contract extension on Thursday. The contract comes with an annual value of $9.85 million and runs through the 2026-27 season. Seguin has a no-trade clause for the life of the deal, which also covers this season, the final year of a six-year, $34.5 million contract he signed with the Boston Bruins back in 2012. It is the richest contract in franchise history and a comes with a slightly higher cap hit than captain Jamie Benn’s $9.5 million per season. “It was emotional,” Seguin said. “It was a process, a learning process this whole summer, learning the whole business side… but at the end of the day, I knew where I wanted to be. I knew where home was and that was here in Dallas.” Negotiations picked up over the past few weeks after Seguin publicly aired his disappointment in not having a contract in an interview on Aug. 28 with reporters in Toronto. “Honestly it wasn’t a strategic move,” Seguin said. “Maybe it ended up being one in the end. But I didn’t really plan on it. It was first time I talked to media all summer and they asked how I was feeling and I just spoke the truth.” The sides had conversations throughout the summer, but negotiations picked up after the public comments. There was more give and take between the two sides and they started to hammer down final details earlier this week. The contract is heavily front-loaded, Seguin will make $13.5 million next season, the fourth-highest salary in the NHL, and it’s going to be paid out heavily in signing bonuses as lockout protection for Seguin. Stars General Manager Jim Nill said he never set a hard deadline, but was happy to get the deal done before training camp and avoid the distraction that could have loomed over Seguin and the team. Had Seguin gone to market next summer he could have demanded a contract similar to John Tavares’ seven-year, $77 million deal in free agency. But upon signing, the 26-year old said, “I wanted something fair but I also didn’t want to handcuff my team.” “JT didn’t have what I have here in Dallas,” Seguin said. “I have guys that are heck of hockey players. Not saying there’s not there (in New York). But the core group here is already — we’re right there.” “With Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin,” Nill said. “I think our franchise is in a good spot over the next eight or nine years.” Also worth watching: The Stars’ official Twitter account announced the deal in their own special way.
Stars only have 55M on the books next season. Getting Spezza's 7.5 off the book is huge. Howver they still are going to have a lot of holes to fill even w EK.
Will be interesting to see the return. I highly doubt it’s better than what the lightning offered at the draft but I know they wanted to trade him to the west. I wonder if he signs with the sharks.
maybe he gets flipped to the lightning so the senators can take less in a trade to avoid trading within the division only for the player to end up in the division for the 2nd time this offseason.
The Atlantic may have three of the five best teams in the league and also the three worst teams in the league.
At least one of those horrible teams is Montreal who’s fans pay top dollar for my tickets whenever they are in town.
