It couldn't be that exorbitant now. With Koscielny on the way out, this is a good insurance policy as a cover for LCB & LB, even if we buy Tierney.
I don't really rate/want Malcom, but a loan/buy option would be much more desirable to overspending by an insane amount on Zaha. Malcom should come at a discount, compared to what he would have cost in January 2018 & is still young enough to live up to potential.
I fear Malcom isn't big/strong enough to impose himself in the PL...he's the anti-Zaha, in that regard
I think we need a central MF more than anything in the world. Someone with some sort of creativity through the middle. We got fucking destroyed without Aaron last year.
Hoping this doesn’t mean Tierney is off. Not like we need to sign any defenders anyway with how great we were last year.
the thing I'm most interested in is if he's being loaned back. I suspect he will be, but I hope he's not.
Everything I’ve seen and read that was the condition for the move to get done. Allegedly the player wants it as well which I think is the strangest part. No idea why you’d want to stay there another year.
because staying there a year and playing a full season as first choice in Ligue 1 is wayyyyyy better for both us and him than coming to Arsenal and being 4th choice behind our shit CB's
Him going out on loan, also frees up the entirety of our £40M transfer budget... freeing us to address other needs.
William Saliba: Arsenal close to deal for Saint-Etienne defender By David Ornstein BBC Sport Arsenal are set to sign Saint-Etienne defender William Saliba in a 30m euro (£27m) deal that will see him loaned back to the Ligue 1 club next season. The Gunners will pay for the 18-year-old in instalments, which will not have a major impact on their restricted budget of around £45m for this summer. Saliba is one of the game's most highly rated young centre-backs. Arsenal remain in the market for a player to come straight into the first-team squad in the same position. Saliba joined Saint-Etienne in 2016 and no announcement on Arsenal's acquisition of the France Under-20 defender is expected for several days while the transfer is finalised. Arsenal are also pursuing Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney, 22, and additionally hope to recruit a central midfielder and winger. Meanwhile, former Arsenal midfielder Edu will be confirmed as the club's first technical director imminently. Edu, 41, played for Arsenal between 2001 and 2005, winning the Premier League twice and FA Cup twice.
Saliba deal sounds like it works for everyone involved which feels weird when dealing with a cunt French club
