Anybody watched this yet? Only one season up on Netflix, but I blew through it in a couple days. Thought it was great. It's a Norwegian show with subtitles that centers around the war in Afghanistan.

"In NOBEL, two stories carefully intertwine as a returning soldier and family man becomes a pawn in a political international game. As the stakes grow higher he is forced to discover just how far one should go in the name of peace."

Will add it to my list. I can't keep up with TV shows anymore, too much good stuff out there. Need to win the lottery so I can retire.

I've been digging deeper for good shows off the beaten path. Often times it leads me to some sort of European show. It is usually rewarding.

My only problem with foreign shows (or shows with a lot of foreign language in it) is that I can't follow the show without having to be actively paying attention to my TV screen at all times. Took me a while to get through Narcos because of that, probably 2x as long as it would have it if had been in all English.

Glad to see this post, I was meaning to get to it.

I really enjoyed the show. If nothing else, it's a really interesting look at another nation considering the complexities of our modern asymmetrical battlefields, and the show doesn't shy away from the inevitable comparisons between Norway and the U.S. There are some really great moments between characters where they either lament not being more like "the Americans" or pat themselves on the back for that same thing. The characters also constantly give a foreign audience a look at what it is to be "Norwegian" - there are many subtle moments between father and son, for example, where norms are reinforced in a very positive and affirming sort of way. I will say that I found the end of the season pretty anticlimatic, but I am still going to be happy to follow the show going forward.
