Beto has done 150
All in on Big Liz Warren
Maybe if you count all the times he's spoken from a tabletop as a town hall.
this is some lame false equivalence nonsense from yashar.
And if I just read accurately DeBlasio is in. Jesus.
Wouldn't a #gravelanche just be a regular avalanche?
I got 13 of them
Can we put a moratorium on people running, let alone white dudes?
Let them run. It's pointless because they won't make the debate stage or have more than 100 votes in the first primary
De Blasio may just because math says there has to be 65k in New York that like him. Others are fucked unless they are already there.
Hickenlooper tweets like he is running for POTUS. But Bennett does not. Rarely mentions it. Will be interesting to see what people throw in the towel first. How long do you poll at 0 to 1 percent before you bail?
When you don't get to the stage with the new rules.
I wonder how much a debt forgiveness proposal will drive the millennial vote. You would think a lot but who the fuck knows
Joe will reach across the aisle.... to get more Rs elected
Upton is my district, He used to be ok. He is fucking awful now. I voted for him last cycle because I have worked closely with his brother and he (Fred) is a nice guy. He's also Kate Upton's uncle so after she donated a bunch of money to my old school I felt obligated. He can get fucked now
Edit: he also comes from the family who started whirlpool. They are all rich as shit.
You voted for him... Because you liked his brother and his niece donated money to a school??
Hence my shame post. And it was my former high school so it mattered to a small city. Take it back if I could. I was always voting for people I liked, not policy. That has drastically changed. I guess being naive was my excuse.
In my inbox from Pete today
Today we’re launching a resource page that explains Pete’s positions and grounds them in his values. We hope this page will be useful as you talk to your friends and family about what’s at stake this election, and why you believe in Pete’s bold vision for our future. As our campaign releases further policy ideas and initiatives, this page will continue to be a resource.
Take a read and then tell us: what’s the most important thing to you and your family? And how have these issues played out in your life?
This campaign is about building the kind of democracy and society that works for all of us. This time around, we know it’s not just about winning an election; it’s about winning an era.
Together, we can do just that.
Pete for America
Bae gaining some momentum in the great horse race to see who loses to Trump.
Fuck man, June 26th can't get here soon enough, Grandpa Joe needs to go and people overrelying on their limited name recognition needs to end. Let the policies and personalities of these much more in-touch and electable candidates take over.
Can't wait to see Warren walk circles around all the other candidates with her policy proposals
Will be interested in who is the beneficiary of Bernie's numbers were he to drop out and the same goes for Warren.
How much of Biden's popularity is solely name recognition at this point? It's hard for me to believe he's really 2-3x as popular as the next two
And then people be like “but electability.”
Name recognition and Obama Nostalgia
There will be a few that just copy her proposals and just try to beat her on likability.
Almost all of it. There’s very few that support his policies per polling.
I don't see an obvious candidate tbh (other than Warren). Perhaps if one of the Western Governors were to flank way further than theyve ever positioned themselves prior. Perhaps Abrams but I don't see her running nor gaining traction if she did.
But also cant see Bernie dropping out no matter what. He will do the same deal at the convention as before, just with a smaller share of delegates.
Okay, so here's an interested Aussie's view of where we are at the moment:
Biden - Way ahead right now but he's going to strike real trouble as soon as he has to start talking to the public and in debates where he won't be able to keep up. His spotty track record is going to get him in some trouble too. He's gonna start shedding points like crazy before too long. And I hope so too - there's a reason he'd be the oldest elected president... it just doesn't happen at his age.
Sanders - Started strong but IMO no chance now. Comes across as the cranky, nutty uncle you try to stay away from. Doesn't have enough broad public appeal and his policies won't be mainstream enough to get the nom. He'll hang around til the end but that's about it.
Warren - If she can temper her previous speaking style and not come across as 'shrill' as she seemed to during the last campaign (edit, because it seems posters are quick to jump to wrong conclusions: ) when she was SPEAKING OUT AGAINST TRUMP, it's all hers to lose. I haven't heard her speak at all since she announced so she might already be fine - I hope so because she should be way too smart for the Donald and is the smart choice IMO.
Buttigieg - I like Pete. I think he's super intelligent and a good guy. But I think it's probably too soon. Big chance if he was to run next time when a lot more people know him and have heard what he has to say for 4 years.
Harris - I just don't see it. Comes across as wishy washy and very unimpressive to me. From what little I've heard from her, I don't think she has the goods and that people won't vote for her.
Beto - Pete got in first (I think) and stole his thunder. That really hurt and now I'm not sure anyone cares about him. The standing on tables schtick is really annoying too.
And don't worry about the rest. No one else is.
You watch your mouth!!
He has universal name recognition and the memory of being besties with the most beloved Democrat of the last generation. Bernie is the only one close in name recognition and he is running second. See a trend? The interesting point in that he is only +4 in Iowa where he never does well.
I think he flubs the debates where people learn his policies and ideas are shit and if not, he can take out Trump because the middle right loves ole Joe and I suspect Kamala is starting to see her best path is as his VP to get women to the poll.
It appears Biden is extremely popular with D voters who either like the establishment/status quo or who don’t have enough of a political bent to hang out online and discuss politics.
I don’t think quotes from 1990, flubs, etc are going to matter much to those voters or cause them to turn away. Those will continue to come out, but the people who will get wrapped up in that already don’t like Biden.
That appears to be a large group, and for another candidate to beat Biden it will be more a matter of winning those voters over during the campaign.
Not sure Warren or Sanders can win the nomination running in the progressive lane alone.
kind of telling on yourself here because she didn't run in 2016.
Wasn't beto already campaigning before Pete jumped in? Or did he do that stupid "I'm going to campaign but pretend I'm thinking about it" thing? I don't remember, the 204837 people running kind of blend together outside of Warren
It's a bit early to say those things won't matter imo
Could be wrong for sure. Just a take
A lot of it, IMO was that people so wanted Biden to run in 16 and he would have won, so why not 20? Most voters right now just want Trump defeated so obviously they aren't looking at policy, though Warren is doing a great job making it an issue, and Joe is carrying on pure name recognition.
I think this becomes a three person race with Biden, Bernie and Liz and then we'll see where things end up. Right now, Biden is the safe pick, but let's see how he handles being the lead dog and being attacked. Bernie didn't handle it well before Joe got in. I'm just hoping Warren stays the course because I like the way she is running.
He was, Pete jumped in and snatched the likable young spot quickly. Beto got left, but he has changed how he is running so it may flip back. Pete's CNN townhall changed the game for those two. I don't remember who announced first but they were both clearly running.
Umm, yeah I know that. I was talking about her anti-Trump campaigning - I was actually travelling in the States in June & July of 2016 and watched a lot of the coverage in my hotel rooms.
primary and/or general election voters messing this up is going to really piss me off
There's no point in fighting it, you need to just join me in throwing oneself beneath the wheels of the Diamond Joe juggernaut.
If it’s Biden....fine. I think he’s the most likely to win.
But I really want to go butch and Liz out with my girl.
