he dated a girl I knew in college. Tough to say anyone has a problem but that dude would get smashed and then go on espn and talk about how he had quit drinking.
My Bengals should be calling Floyd any minute now. Would love to see him in Cincy. Would also prefer he gets clean first though...
That would be the story for every person that saw him. I know the people that own most of the bars he frequented (Corby's, Mitch's, Backer) and the story was, he was usually smashed any time he went. After he got drafted, friends had to carry him out of one of those (I forget which).
The real issue is that he drops too many passes. Nobody would care if he lived up. Now maybe he drops so many because he is hungover.
Still, nobody would care if he just caught the fucking ball.. It always made me laugh when his family talked about how he was cleaning his high school as a football player at night to help pay for his tuition at this highly football factory in Minnesota ....people bought that and it makes me sad
Had some stuff going on so I thought I'd come home check and find out we hired Elko already. The wait has me thinking Kelly pulled a Tulsa and choked this away late like always and somehow his boy Elston will get it. I hope I'm wrong but that would be very typical
You guys remember George O'Leary, right? Every coaching hire since seems to have taken awhile, even the successful ones. ND simply has a slower vetting process and for good reason. But as with any job, they probably don't go through it until the job is accepted. We've lost coaches before and I know it's easy to question everything about this program right now, but can anybody think of an assistant we lost because the vetting took too long? I fully believe it will be Elko. Elston probably expects that, too, but he deserves an interview and they have to proceed with other options while going through the steps of hiring Elko. Hopefully, Elston's next interview is with Elko for an assistant position. Or, he could go back to TE and ST like he did at Cincy.
In this day and age with 4 ND websites with multiple contributors, football scoop, and national media reporting every coaching move everything gets out before the ink drys. So if Elko was told he was going to be the guy it would leak before being official
Just like it would leak if he were looking elsewhere. At this point, one interview has leaked - with ND. Outside of some "could be an option" mentions, ND has been the only job actually linked to him. And one of those mentions has been filled anyway, at Oregon.
Any chance we lose Elston in this whole deal? Seems like he is pretty locked down in South Bend, but there have to be other DC positions available out there that he could be a fit for. I really like what he has done since becoming the recruiting coordinator. Even though admittedly I don't follow it as much as I used to, it seems like we're engaging better with prospects and commits since he took the reins. To more or less maintain the group that we have committed with all of the negative shit going on is pretty impressive to me. Obviously signing day is a long way away, I realize.
Looks like Jurkovec commented as well, but that's behind a pay wall. I assume it's boiler plate stuff and he will go to Bama.
Tori Hunter Jr. is forgoing his 5th year to play baseball in the Angels organization. He will graduate this Spring. Good luck to him. Too many injuries to continue playing football I think.
Congrats to Killy, he did the impossible, he hired a guy that has lost more games than he did the last 3 years. Elko and Wake Forest went 12-24 the last 3 years. Yup, should be savior just like corwin brown, tenuta and BVG.
I've been critical of all things ND but the DC hiring process went down exactly the way I would have hoped. Well done.
Every coach on any team is part of the w/l record. With that said I will take a wait and see approach as I do all coaches but Killy as I knew he was a failure from day since he was such a human pos, I knew he would fail at ND. Elko seems like a decent human, fortunately for him, he was never associated with Killy. He appears to be a solid D.C. my biggest concern with him as it always has been with Killy and all his hires, he has no big program experience. Coaching at a blue blood is a different animal and It proved true with Killy and his div 2 staff. Almost every great coach learned under another great coach at a great program. Woody Hayes, Holtz, Saban coaching trees are crazy good. It's not mandatory but it's a good start to have big program experience coming to a school like ND
That is such a lie, I remember you. You were the first one to laugh at Nd for keeping weis back in the days. You wrote many times that Kelly was a great coach and Nd was going to mess up hiring a great coach to keep weis.
Unfortunately being a new hire dcord at ND is career suicide Corwin Brown Very aggressive defense, Belichik/parcel coaching tree Tenuta and his exotic blitz package BVG - again aggressive blitzing wth NFL and SEC experience According to ND fans all were can't miss hires All dead. Next man on career suicide Elko
Many hated the tenuta hire. Many hated the Bvg hire for the same reasons they hated tenuta. You forgot to mention diaco :) Don't panick dude, Nd is going to be average again even if that is a great hire
I'm all for bashing Kelly and talking about horse breeding with ya but Elko is helluva hire, no two ways about it.
Diaco was not a new hire he came with Killy. Just like Minter started with Weis. ND has a lame duck coach, just like they did with Weis, hiring a new Dcord to give the fan base optimism is like putting a band aid on a bleeding artery. You are not solving the problem, which is leadership. Killy is the problem, just like Weis was the problem. The faster ND deals with that, the quicker they can get back to being a national contender instead of the biggest dumpster fire in college football.
