I love Brey to death, but this is the kind of game where depth of talent is an issue. I thought the big hitters would handle it, but, not working that way.
Lol Farrell giving a Wtf when Gibbs grabbed his guy going up floor on d was amazing. We are fucked. Also. The call on TJ was bullshit.
I hate that I'm liking WV a bit. Both teams have helped each other up, grabbed off balance dude's, etc.
Our offense is pretty simple right now. Run around until you get trapped then panic and throw it across the court. Hope bonzi will catch it and do something cool. Well oiled machine type shit.
Our D has been abysmal, but if we shoot anything close to normal this is not a concern. Jaded ass day.
Surprised this team played as well as it did this year. Kind of expected it to look like this all year. Way better year than expected. Pretty huge let down in this game though.
Easy game to analyze. 3 PT range: VJ Beachem: 1/8 West Virginia Starters: 6/8 If you would have told me that before the game, I would have thought we'd lose by 15-20.
Seriously, You are a very good poster on this board but bringing every issue in any sports related to Nd to coaching can be a bit annoying at some point. We all get that the bottom line is with the coach, but shit will happen and some decisions won't pan out. I don't know shit about basketball but sometimes the game plan means shit in every single sport if the guys on the field/ice/court are not sharp.
?? It was a poorly coached game, sorry. That being said, Mike Brey should make twice as much money as Brian Kelly. Even if Brey had made all of the right decisions we probably still would have lost. WVU earned it.
Tough to bench Beachem given he was playing decent defensively/rebounding and Brey's whole "shoot through it" mentality with shooters in slumps. Ryan could have played more but he is a defensive liability in this matchup who had 3 fouls in 11 minutes. We needed Gibbs to play ~15 good minutes tonight and it was really more of his issue than a Brey issue that he struggled. Was it Brey's best gameplan? No. But could we have won the game with it had we played well? For fucking sure. Too easy to just blame the coaches
I didn't just blame it on the coaches. The first thing I said was poorly played. Setting up the corner three out of the press breaker for Beachem was just poor.
It's actually a great move. Defense swings to the ball side. You quickly pass to the opposite side with under numbered defenders. We just decided to suck today.
And replace beachem and vasturia with who? I was all for letting ryan play. But he can't dribble either and against that defense nd needed guys who could somewhat handle the ball. Early in the game you gotta let those guys keep shooting hoping they get out of it and later in the game they didn't have replacements. I guess that 2nd part is not recruiting.
I can't wait for everybody in West Virginia to die from opioid overdoses. We really don't need them as a state.
Not directing this. This was not a poorly coached game. It was a bad game. Players were not pulled because a better option was not sitting there. Complain about recruiting whatever, that's fair, but Brey ran into a hot team and had a cold real. He did anything a good coach would do. If you seek singular blame for a team effort when we have a known value you're grasping for reason.
