I could be naive but I really think the transfer portal is going to be a net positive by creating parity across the board. Nd just needs to bring in 25-30 a year and buy into the natural attrition down and recruit internally to avoid attrition up. Tall task but seems doable. Also the nil thing is really going to fracture some teams and unmotivate guys with guaranteed deals like we haven’t seen before
Byu or usc I think. We only want one but singer teased we may take two. (Probs because rairdon will medical imo$
Whatever moron ad introduced fully guaranteed contracts as the market in cfb should get a 30 for 30. These guys are getting better deals than any other professional or amateur sport in the world now and have a success rate of like 5% (even before there was a 100 mil on the line). Like what does Nebraska or Wisconsin expect the best possible outcome is
It takes money to get wrecked in the B1G CG. It's also a fight for survival with the LA schools coming in, some of these schools are going to be long time bottom dwellers unless they get these hires right.
They also have a fuck ton of tv money coming so it doesn’t really impact the balance sheet if they reinvest. The size of the assistant pools and nds independent deficit makes me think nd to the BIG is gonna be accelerated to compete
Singer Pete and mike frank all saying nd is loosening up transfer restrictions for undergrads. We shall see
There is going to be a massive roster overhaul then this year given numbers if they are really going to take 4-5 transfers. Think they are at like 119 with everyone back who has eligibility and around 105 if everyone expected comes back. That’s 20 transfers plus 3-4 more commits and 4-5 transfers so something like 25 kids leaving
That is just wild - hope they are doing something to let guys come back and finish their degrees if they want
Just wait until the 85 man restriction goes away. Back to holtz days of 150 guys on scholarship. I can’t wait
No doubt USC was the better team, but the better team doesn't always win on Saturday (Stanford game being the best example of this). Sometimes you just need one or two calls to happen and things can change dramatically. The fumble that Addison recovered, the missed holding calls that would have put USC in very long situations, Pyne not being an idiot and fumbling the ball, or a ND player actually making a tackle could all change the course of a game. But yes, watching the game, I definitely thought USC was the better team but as a ND fan, I'm going to always lament "what if?" calls. I still can't get over the FSU call in 2014 on the "pick play" that ND should have scored the game winning TD on but got a penalty instead even though Clemson ran the exact same play in the championship game and it didn't get called. That was a potentially season changing call right there that was crap.
They should just do some sports business entrepreneurship program outside of Mendoza but you borrow some lackey first year profs to do a few accounting, finance, marketing, and management courses. It can be a proving ground for said profs to get into Mendoza. Then you give Rees Sr. a cushy teaching role where it is worth his while to stick around if things go sideways with jr.
Has anyone had good luck with full gear(helmet, jersey, pants)youth set ups? Looking around and finding almost no options. Thanks
Here's an interesting random thought. Say ND has a transfer QB named by the bowl and Pyne decides to bounce ahead of the bowl, as it would hit between semesters. Who's starting the bowl? Kind of has to be Angeli, doesn't it?
But how healthy? And how much practice time could he get? If it works out that way, though, it would give him a chance to play in a functional offense heading into next year. Though one without Mayer, which would actually provide a good test for going through his reads.
Reading lsu complain about their qb holding the ball and refusing to throw downfield reads like this thread for the past 12 years. Wild that kelly hasn’t brought in a real qb coach given the trend
Ego is a helluva thing. Looking forward to all the posts from them next year about Jayden Daniels regressing year-over-year. That BK/QB first year is always a blessing.
Also I just realized ib really did a live watch and comment. I don’t even like watching with anyone outside of my dad
They are already saying that daniels should move on in favor of a younger player. Hate to break it to you guys…
Someone on coach ds board saying he talked to someone close to dj from Clemson and says he would be interested and his brother (5 star edge) would come with him. imo it’s worth a shot if there isn’t a sure fire star out there. Has the measurable may be hungry and we know he can throw the ball and run pretty well. I imagine clemson has bigger struggles than just him but not sure
I could be talked into this, but DJ seems like a headcase, and ND isn't the place for a headcase QB to thrive
Yea I guess I don’t really see a difference between him and the guys being mentioned (Leary/card). He’s at least a bigger name with nfl measurables.
I’d like a much more of a proven guy. DJs career arc is pretty much that of your typical ND QB as far as regression. On the other hand I’m in love with his measurables.
