Does Dan Brown know about the April 15 thing??? This is getting crazy!
The internet tells me they saved the crown of thorns and other relics and artwork. Hopefully google is right in this case
Visited it and went up one of the towers about a week ago while on vacation, a shame its gone now.
The most ringing endorsement in tmb history

Will the standing stone structure be considered safe?
Incredible. Great day of loss, but this pic makes it clear that the spirit of the building will survive. A full destruction would’ve been so defeating.
WTF thats amazing
Sounds like all things considered we got pretty lucky. Thought for sure the cathedral would be burnt to the ground for the most part. Give them firemen a damn raise.
Thank you to the @PompiersParis policemen and the municipal agents who have made this evening a tremendous human chain to save the works of #NotreDame. The Crown of thorns, the tunic of Saint Louis and several other major works are now in a safe place.
Disclaimer: No idea the validity of this information.
i have never forgiven general morosini and the ventians for bombing the ottoman arsenal there smh
I feel like the guy married to Salma Hayek who can donate $100m on a whim has a better life than mine
He just bought a helluva indulgence
Probably a better life than all of TMB combined.
Possibly even a wilfoy tier life
Unless outkast performed at his frat house that might be a bit extreme
That sec speed
This is why you need to rake the floor of your cathedrals.
I don’t know man...
I know. He gets to have sex with Salma Hayek!
Expanding the ministry from black churches in the South.
Half of Outkast
He’s like 1 of 10 Dems that are easily better and more broadly appealing/actually intelligent than the next closest R.
That whole “omg do Dems have direction or a leader” bit cracked me up 2 years ago and obviously more so now.
Could make twice that selling his wife's underwear.
Has to be behind only the Library of Alexandria for historically and culturally significant loss of a building. Sad day.
I’m sad about the building, hopefully that’s ok
I don’t know about all that.
so thats quite a lot of money. Still feels depressing that 200mln for him is like a few K for me
Which buildings on that list would you rank more historically/culturally significant than Notre Dame and the Library of Alexandria?
I think the House of Wisdom in Baghdad that the mongols sacked ranks hire than the Notre Dame (keep in mind though that ND will be rebuild fully and you will hardly see the difference, thats the major difference between Europe and the US, the US mindset would be to build something bigger, better, grander than what was there whilst the European mindset is to make it like it was without any noticeable difference).
Honestly think that the WTC are culturally wholly different but not that huge a difference as well
First off, the Notre Dame is not completely destroyed. It may take a generation to rebuild, but France and the Catholic church will do so (they'll squabble over who will pay for it, of course).
Second, I'm not suggesting any of those listed are more important than the Great Library or the Notre Dame, rather that we humans (not just westerners) have lost (through accident, natural disaster, neglect, war, etc) myriad priceless culturally significant buildings since antiquity, it's impossible to rank them.
More important culturally than various buildings lost in China or shit, what ISIS did to Palmyra 3 years ago? They're all irreplaceable.
the No-Trump Dame would be something all can agree on
Either no, or nice humble brag about being a millionaire!
He has 91 billion.
200 million is 0.2198 percent of his total wealth.
Even saying a "few k" is 3k, that means you'd have 1,365k.
Kinda puts it all into perspective.
Umm didnt they already confirm at least one firefighter seriously injured?
