Sampson did kind of make a good point on the pod today in that either this Clemson team was less talented than the last couple years or was a better matchup for ND. Clemson had Venables' kid spying Book. Book probably doesn't have 68 yards rushing with Isiah Simmons keeping an eye on him.
This is certainly Clemson-lite compared to the 2018 team. Injuries aside, they’re still a far more inexperienced roster than what we saw in 2018. WRs and DL aren’t all superstars. OL only returned 1 starter this year. Lawrence and Etienne seem like the only losses they’ll have after this year. The good news is that 2018 team was outrageously good and no team in college football this year is comparable to it.

I'm not sure how long they've been dealing with injuries, but that was the 4th time this year they've given up at least 20 points. Even with the guys missing, this isn't the same Clemson defense as the past.
as a CFB fan, I would have loved to have seen the 2018 Clemson team go up against the last year's LSU team. Would have been a matchup for the ages with Clemson's D vs LSU's O. Those 2 units alone would have fielded a dozen first round picks, maybe more.
